Being only 17 and male, and getting told by my mum and 2 doctors that this is probably just puberty causing my acne, I was wondering ... how do you know if it's because of puberty? If it was, wouldn't I have gotten it at 15? I mean, I got about 2 - 3 tiny pimples every 3 months last year.

My voice broke at about 14, had a growth spurt at 15 or something, but I didn't grow body hair, such as under my arms or the low part of my stomach (snail trail) till the start of this year. And thats when I slowly started to get more and more pimples through out the year, really getting bad after August.

Am I just late? is it normal to get mild-moderate acne at 17, if it's puberty, when SHOULD it go away.

This does not mean I won't be treating it now, I'll be doing everything.
