Hello,

Started getting acne with seborrheic dermatitis one year ago and it only becomes worse every day. Please tell me if this is Acne Conglobata on the pictures.

I think acne conglobata is a lot more severe than this. Its pretty widespread and large and crusty with multiple large cysts and usually has interconnected tracts, as well. Google some pics of it.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

On my right temple there are several nodules that are connected to each other under the skin. Isn't this the main characteristic of Acne Conglobata?

Maybe it's the first symptom? I never had nodules or cysts before this.

Can people with cystic acne comment on it please?

I'm sorry, its harder to tell from the pictures. I have taken some for my own reference (not emotionally ready to post on here yet) and mine never look as bad as it does in person/in the mirror either, but mine is more wipespread/larger. Its a big patch on the right side of my chin and it is acne conglobata per my dermatologist. It is all interconnected and scaly. When it first came up though, it wasn't that bad. I went from 5 1/2 years of clear skin to this in a matter of 5-7 days! It came on slowly. It started as a red area that was really itchy. This was flat and really only a medium pink color in the very beginning. Then it got redder and got 1 pustle that popped and had a crusty scab on it (kind of yellow colored). This continued to spread, get redder, and raise up more until the whole area had lots of big nodules and pustules and they come up, drain, scale over, go down and its on-going over this whole area of redness. Mine started mild and got severe quickly. If you think that is what's happening to you, go to the derm NOW! I am on accutane now and its calmed very slightly (2 weeks in), but I know its going to take awhile... Luckily for you, if it is acne conglobata you can get started on the meds quicker than us females. I really hope its not though, because that stuff SUCKS!!!!! eusa_wall.gif

I already booked an appointment with my derm, the closest one is on December 20th, but I'm very scared about the diagnosis and can't really sleep and eat.

Here's a more detailed photo. Do I need to ask the dermatologist for multiple cortisone shots? Maybe I should go to the emergency room right now?

Please help.

I wouldn't say you would need to go to the ER, but it definitely looks like some nodular acne. Not conglobata though, in my unprofessional opinion. You could visit a derm for some treatment options though. Also it looks like you've been popping and picking them; I know it's hard, but it'd be a good idea to stop, as it could just make things worse. Good luck!

ER won't do anything for it. They aren't skin specialists which is what you need. Just see the derm when you can and go from there. They will give you cortisone shots as needed. I have had them and they helped moderately... Don't worry though because its pretty small overall. Mine is pretty much all over my entire chin and most of my forehead. Just be proactive and positive!
