Hi! I am a 19 year old female. All my teenage life I have had the occasional pimples pop up during my menstrual cycle. However, in August, just two months ago, I moved to Florida. Ever since I arrived, I have had terrible cysts pop up on my jaw. (So far, 4 huge ones) and now, another cyst on my chin. Also, I have more pimples than ever before. The sad thing is, in this short amount of time, I have already gotten scars and discoloration. I am just curious as to why you think I have all of a sudden developed cystic acne and more pimples. it is taking a toll on my self-confidence, and really bringing me down. I use retin-a on the cysts, but I'm not sure if its working. Also, do cysts ever come to a head? Thanks in advance for your responses!

Hey. It sounds like you are suffering with hormonal acne. The same thing happened to me right before I turned 21. I never had a cyst before then so I went to see a dermatologist (a horrible one) and he said he thought I just had an infection, so he put me on some antibiotic for 30 days and sent me on my way. Well my cyst went away and my other pimples didn't really bother me, and then I got another cyst, and that went away pretty quickly, but then when I was 22 I got another one, and my mom basically forced me to go to a dermatologist because she didn't think it was normal lol. Well I'm glad she did because I went to a great dermatologist and he said that I had hormonal acne and prescribed me spiro and my face cleared up completely! it was amazing really. I no longer take spiro tho but I take vitamins prescribed by my derm and while they don't work AS good, they work pretty damn good! My face is clear 95 percent of the time, and when it's not it's one or two small pimples. And although I never considered myself to have cystic acne (since I've only had maybe 4 cysts my whole life, and never more than 1 at a time), I really had great results. So my suggestion for you is to go to a dermatologist as soon as you can, and ask them about sprio and if they think it's right for you because the longer you wait, the more likely you are going to scar.

I cleared on spiro and have to remain on spiro to stay clear. But spiro is safe for long-term use so I'm still enjoying clear skin.

Many women also clear on the right form of birth control.

Also, is there any way to prevent or help get rid of dents from the cysts?
