Hello everyone,
I'm fairly new to the message board on here considering I've been a member but don't really post but I have something I'd really like to share that helped clear my acne from super depressed didn't want to leave the house and live life to at least 97% clear with a zit every now and then. My secret weapon? It's Hibiclens...an antimicrobial used by surgeons to wash their hands prior to surgery to prevent infection. Here's my story:
I was 21 years old. A cute girl with so much potential if not for these horrible zits on my face. I was so sad and depressed and felt ugly. I had fought acne for a long time and had good days and bad days and horrible don't want to leave my house days unless I caked on the makeup. I needed something...anything to put the light back in my eyes so I could live again.
I went to a dermatologist and started using Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion 1%
My regimen included:
Morning:
Wash with 2% salicylic acid (Neutrogena grapfruit)
Rub in Clindamycin Lotion
Moisturize with Murad skin perfecting lotion (it has retinol and helps with skin shedding)
Night:
the exact same
I was clearing up but still getting zits and had just started dating again and it was so frustrating and embarassing to have these pimples on my face that were still apparent under my piles of makeup. I needed something. Anything. I started searching online and came across Hibiclens. I read how it was a miracle worker for body acne and how it was an antimicrobial for surgeons..I thought to myself "if surgeons use it then maybe it will kill P. acne bacteria on my face" Bc Hibiclens is said to last on your skin for 6 hours to kill bacteria. So I decided to experiment. I didn't have anything to lose but my acne. I got it at Walgreens for 12 bucks and was really excited and dreaming about all the things I'd do once I had my confindence back and could be the person I wanted to be without letting acne hold me back.
I started off slow and used a few drops mixed in with my facewash using the same regimen I have listed above. Within a couple weeks I noticed a difference. Then I started using quite a bit more and mixing it with my face wash and then leaving the foaming mix of hibiclens/neutrogena wash on my face and letting it sit there and giving it a chance to kill the bacteria bc I had read somewhere it helps to leave hibiclens on the skin for a few minutes to give it a chance to work. And in doing so I'd have to say I've seen a big difference in my skin. My breakouts are few and far between and at their worst around period time. I am on Yaz birth control and have a solid regimen but I truly believe Hibiclens has been a savior for me. I have very pale skin. Which is oily and can also get dry in my chin and bottom face areas and I thought it was possible Hibiclens would be too harsh but it hasn't been. I HIGHLY recommend moisturizing even oily skin like mine. (I use oil sheets when shiny) I'm not saying Hibiclens will be a miracle for everyone but I had to share my story. I think it's something that maybe alot of acne sufferers on a budget or cant get to a doctor should at least give it a shot. I'd give it at least a month and make sure you moisturize and possibly start out slow (I use quite a bit in my facewash though and lather it up real good) Anyone who has read this I sincerely thank you for the time and truly urge you to try it and see...no one should have to suffer from this skin disease. I feel for anyone who has it. I've been there with horrible red bumps on my face and couldn't even look in the mirror and cried myself to sleep praying to God he'd give me a chance to clear my face so the world could see my inside along with my outside and I did it. And I'm here to help.
