Hey guys..
Just wondered, does anybody get reoccurring cheek 'nodules' that come up big red and very tender, linger, begin to go down, leave a dormant 'bump' then tend to flare up again?? Only on my right cheek, so annoying. They look awful! I tried to tell my mum that although I don't 'look' like I have severe acne, with me having 4 nodules at one time.. the spots themselves are severe! Is quantity of nodules/ cysts important when diagnosing severe acne?
Currently on dianette, only been on it for a month so just waiting to see some results, my skin is definately less greasy, but still getting hormonal cheek spots.
Terrible when acne hits you at 18, you think you've gotten away with it!!!!
Anyway, some feedback would be greatly appreciated
xx
Yes I would get that exact same thing! I had one that lasted a year!
Stupid cysts, I finally went on Accutane and haven't had one like that since.
Best choice I ever made, but definitely not one for everybody.
What worked well for me for a while was a prescription gel cream called "Clindoxyl" it's very easy to get through your GP and not expensive.
After a while I just wasn't getting the results I wanted to I did Accutane.
I did resort to stabbing my cysts with needles to get the junk out and that made them better for months at a time, but they always came back.
My skin is super stubborn though. Just like me lol.
I really want to go on roaccutane, but I'm terrified that I would be one of those cases that just looks like lava that has solidified after it!!! It would happen to me, so unlucky!! Lol. Have you tried controlling your acne through specially designed birth control pills. Such a long and fluctuating process!! As always with acne!!
Have your cheeks scarred?
Thanks for the feedback!!
I get these sort of cheek nodules from time to time too, they're the ones which really annoy me! Do yours ever come to a head, or just slowly die down leaving a horrid mark?
Sorry I don't have any solutions for you, just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one!
I was put on Cyclen (not Tri-Cyclen) and it helped a bit with my regular acne when I was 15, but my acne pretty much revolted and turned into cysts after that and nothing really seemed to touch them. But i really dislike the idea of switching BCP's around because the hormones make me CRAZY at first and my BF would kill me lol. Also i am not into weight gain and sore boobs lol.
i would get annoyed too quickly. i am an instant gratification type of person.
I DID have some pretty bad scarring, 2 ice pick type scars and a lot of purple marks, but over time your skin sluffs away and smoothes out, not sure if that was the accutane or just me.
If you dont have "really bad acne" already and you just get occasional cysts i wouldn't worry about a terrible out break on accutane.
i didn't really breakout at all. i did have one icident around my 3 month mark, but i think i was neglecting washing my face a bit because of camping. Unlucky- i thought that would happen to me too, but i actually DID get lucky and no breakouts.
and if you are like me and scarring is your concern, they wont treat your scars until you are acne free, which is why i went on accutane, but now i am not even going to get it done because my skin has improved that much. i am sort of glowy now. read my log to see my symptoms. totally managable.(sp?)
honestly, if you are concerned about scarring try TRYYYYY not to pick at the cysts.
go to a derm and say look, here's what i've got, they hurt, i feel like everyone can see them, what can i do.
you dont necessarily have to do accutane there are lots of options, i was just so sick of "bandaid" cures that i was like "OK KILL IT ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
Yeah the cysts do not seem to get a head and just lie there, slowly dying down, but they will flare up if I have been picking quite a bit. However, recently I've just started wearing foundation, which I haven't done before, and it totally covers the redness. Sure my skin is a bit bumpy on my right cheek but without the redness I am less likely to pick..
'Bandaid' cures, I like that, that's exactly how I feel, I just wanna control the acne from the inside out instead of treating the output constantly, that is why I would be reluctant to start on the bp regimin. To be fair, the bp delays healing, don't know whether other people have this experience..
I'm just gonna perservere with dianette then demand roaccutane!!!! hahaha
