Wow, some ppl on here are just not very nice. Don't knock it until you try it! And seriously, did someone really compare yogurt to lunch meat??

Anyway, I have to second the love of a yogurt mask! I have posted about it a few times on here. I have been using it for about a month now with pretty great results. That's just me though, and about 60 people on makeupalley.com. I use plain Greek yogurt with a little honey mixed in about 4 times per week. Some ppl mix it with lemon but I find lemon stings my face so I use the honey.

I would never wear it out because I can definitely feel it on my face, it feels like a mask...but about 30 minutes at home before bed does every other night or so, does wonders.

Don't just take it from me, here are a few reviews I took form makeupalley.com...just for all you haters,a nd of course for those truly interested in trying something new, that may help.

Fabulous. Get the full fat kind and it will cling to the face. I've left it on between 20 minutes and one hour. Skin feels cool and calmed and velvety. Calms perioral dermatitis like nothing else. I've even used it on my scalp for pesky flaking, and it's easier and neater to use than it may sound. A definite keeper.

I must say this is the BEST mask I have used, and I still can't believe it is yogurt and aspirin! Give this a try, one regular small size yogurt that is around 39 cents will last you for DAYS (until it turns bad anyway!) I can't believe it takes care of ALL my beauty problems!! Hydration, acne, anti-aging, AND dull complexion!!!

Top-recommended mask because it works to soften, smoothen, tighten, and brighten the skin. Part of the reason this works so well is the lactic acid which is a gentler acid for the skin than glycolics or salicylic acid. I love that smearing 2 TBSP of this stuff with or without honey works absolute wonders on all skin types and especially for my acne-prone sensitive skin. Leave this on for 5-10 minutes. You will feel it working right away.

I wish I knew about this in High School. Really this is one of the best DIY facial treatments that I've used. Leaves my face super clean, clear, and soft. The lactic acid really does it's job and the thickness of the yogurt helps it stay put for a full 20 minute treatment.

I usually buy a bunch of plain greek yogurt cups. I take a tbsp each morning mix with honey and let it sit on my face. I eat the rest of the yogurt with almonds and a dollup of honey (good for you and keeps it from being a waste of money)

...and ta daa breakfast and clearer skin in one little cup!

And this is only a few of the great reviews for this stuff. Give it a try!

I used to make my own cleanser with live natural yogurt, Vit E oil (to remove make up) and honey. It is really nice and very gentle. Good as a mask too. I can't think that it cleared my acne totally, but probably helped some with general skin condition and is soothing and non aggravating.

I've not ever tried keeping it on my face all day though, it does dry quite tight like a face mask.

Thanks for reminding me to give the yogurt and honey treatments a try again!

I'mHeather and UKLady: Why do you add honey in it and not use yogurt only? Are your skins naturally oily or dry?

DNG: Mita jugurttia sa tarkkaen ottaen kaytat? Ite kaytan Bulgarian jugurttia.

Well, I have drier skin...but I have heard honey has excellent healing properties and is good for soothing the skin so that's why I use it.

There's some theory behind this yogurt idea...yogurt has lactic acid which exfoliates and probiotics. Just as good and bad bacteria live in the intestinal tract, they also live on your skin. So, it can be beneficial to feed your skin with probiotics. Now, I also don't know how wearing yogurt out would work, but i've never tried it. I've read that yogurt works well as a cleanser and mask. I'm a little nervous to try it though since eating dairy makes me break out...i'm not sure if putting yogurt on my face would also have bad effects...

Wearing yogurt out works fine. You just have to get the amounts right, which isn't really rocket science. The absolute maximum I can use is about one teaspoon for the whole face. If I keep rubbing it in, it will all be absorbed in about 3-5 minutes, after which it doesn't smell nor can it be seen.

The amounts which ones face can absorb will be different for everyone, so just take one evening off to experiment.

Oh :D hehe, its finnish. He was simply asking what brand of yogurt I was using. Im using turkish yogurt, while he (i assume hes a he) just bought bulgarian yogurt.

It really doesn't matter what brand of yogurt as long as it is just plain natural yogurt. If someone has very oily skin they may want to use a low-fat yogurt.

^ Why? Most beauty and acne treatments have natural ingredients. Furthermore, most medicines and treatments were created by experimenting with plants, herbs and other products of nature.

It's alright DNG. Most people seem to share your gut feeling about me. :)

Yogurt is part of nature?

It's made of milk, which is produced by cows.

I don't see it being the same as say...a plant or something. But cows don't squirt out yogurt ya know.

Yeah, I understand your way of thinking. Personally, I see it as a natural ingredient.

I see it as a food. Nom nom nom. I had some 10 minutes ago, LOL. I wonder if any got on my face, it might cure my acne!

Well, I can tell you that while you may not consider yogurt natural, it's a heck of a lot better for your skin than BP! All those chemicals can't be good for you! But I do have to ask, if yogurt is good enough for you to eat, why is it not good enough for you to put on your skin and really, women have been using food (and food products, like honey, etc.) on their skin for years...not like it's a new thing.

I would much rather have food on my face than harsh chemicals. I believe that BP might even be strong enough to bleach clothes.

i did it on my whole face now.

I did it before i had a shower, it felt like it was drying and it made my face feel a bit tight. Once i dried off, my face still felt a bit tight, so i moisturised. Will report back with results soon.

I am going to keep trying it. I'm not going to do it daily though, might do it every other day i think.

By all means go for it, ketchup probably has antioxidants and a few vitamins. Tell me how it works for you! :D

Yeah once the yogurt dries it does make the skin feel sort of tight. It should go back to normal once you washed it off.

I just noticed you can add anything to the yogurt mask. Ive added olive oil, aspirin, tea tree oil and its worked even better. Hows it going for everyone else?

If you have mild acne, yogurt helps. I've heard it from an old lady and it's a traditional method of helping acne prone skin. I'd used to use it once a week as a mask several years ago and my face was good for a while. I introduced it to my friends and it worked on them too. for some people it works permanently but for some like me the skin gets used to it and it's not effective after awhile.

here's the exact method:

1- mix a tablespoon of plain yogurt with a bit of baking soda. the amount of the baking soda can be determined by this way: it should make the yogurt puff a little but not much. very little puff.

2- apply it to all over your face patiently and let it stay for half and hour or more or less! ( the time can be determined by the way all the yogurt is absorbed on your face and when it's all hard. try to lie all this time and relax)

3- wash it with water.

4- if you have rosewater, apply that to your face afterwards.

remember, once a week, not more.

I had always mild acne problem but it got wild all of a sudden this summer. I did use benzoyl peroxide for 3 month but I guess it damage my skin more and maybe benzoyl peroxide is responsible for all the red marks. I have never had redmarks on my face after break outs before.

so I'm using that old method again.
