Hello,
I've seen two derms for my scars (pictures attached). I have a combination of mostly rolling and non-deep ice picks. They're not too bad but I'd like to improve them if possible.
The first derm said it could be fixed with 3-5 sessions of RF microneedling.
The second one said it's not strong enough and recommended laser, fraxel or stronger even.
From what I read it seems I would need subcision first but I'm scared of the side effects like sagging.
What do you think?
I would think subcision (with suction) would be a go-to option that some docs would probably recommend, and then follow that with laser.
However, most importantly, it looks like you're still breaking out, which will create more scars. Make sure you get your acne under complete control first. I recommend The Regimen.
@dan Yes I'm getting under control right now. My skin lacked massive amounts of hydration and was too harsh with acids. I hope it didn't cause bad scarring I can't really distinguish.
Unfortunately no one does subcision where I live. So far I've seen three derms. The first swears by RF microneedling, the 2nd says laser is best (CO2, ablative, fraxel or erbium iirc) and the 3rd recommends dermabrasion (mechanical). They're all probably trying to sell me what they have.
Yeah you're in one of the hardest parts of the process, which is finding the right practitioner. Don't start with anyone until you're certain they are the one for you. I'll attach a screenshot from the scars page of my advice for finding the right person.
@dan Thanks that's nice. My options are somewhat limited, I don't think I'll be able to find someone who specializes in acne scarring.
I think for now I'll start with RF microneedling with enough depth to make sure the tethers are "dissolved". The derm who does it has a Potenza device and is specialized in lasers, anti-aging and aesthetic dermatology. He seems well renowned and certified, but not specialized in acne scarring.
