Suctioning after subcision when you had phenol cross and erbium the same day?

Hello all,

Dr. Rullan has suggested for my first time treatment that I need phenol cross, subcision, and erbium. He does this as a trio in the same day. However, I read in the Harandi, Balighi, Akbari study, that if suctioning is employed after subcision, the efficacy is increased. However, how would you be able to suction properly if your face is red, burning, and has blisters and scabs from the phenol cross and laser? Dr. Rullan never mentioned to me that suctioning is necessary, but I have heard from other docs on youtube as well as that study that it is needed for a great result. I wouldn't even know where to get a suctioning device from. I called another docs office that uses them to ask if I could buy one and she said no, they are only for their patients and that if not trained properly, you can cause problems and bruising.

Is it best to seperate subcision from laser and cross? What happens if your doctor does not recommend suctioning?

Thanks!

There's not always a correct answer to this;

I wouldn't suction until the laser heals up; suctioning can be pretty rough on this skin surface. The phenol I wouldn't be as concerned about; I suctioned after phenol and subcision.

The entire point of suctioning is to prolong the bruising. Search for korean suction cups, I got them on amazon and they're strong. IMO subcision without suctioning or temp filler is not worth it. I met a doctor that mentioned subcision did nothing based on their experience; I partially agree - subcision must be paired with something else.

Wait 2 - 3 days before suctioning for cannular subcision, wait a lot longer, at least one week if nokor subcision. If your skin is still bruised, don't suction - the goal is to prolong the bruising not amplify it. None of this is an exact science.

Good luck.

@f93d thanks for replying... what are your thoughts on subcision (via canula), phenol cross, and erbium all the same session? When you say subcision needs to be paired with something, do you think this trio would show some level of improvement? Do you have a specific product that you used for the suction? I am overwhelmed with the amount of items online..... they look like huge cups that are used for massage and large areas like the back. Plus, I have no idea how to suction. There is no video online or instructions everywhere. I'm scared I could screw something up.. did your doctor recommens that you suction? How did you know what and how to do it without causing injury? Do you have before and after? What percentage of improvement do you think you gained? Sorry for all the questions. Trying to get people with experience with this to reply on here is very hard so I appreciate whatever advice you can give. I attached photos of my scars.... Thanks

I don't see the need for erbium; some of those scars are still sharp so you'll want to continue with cross and subcision. Once they smooth out I'd just fill it in with temp filler - find a nurse who teaches how to inject to do it on you. Your skin won't be perfect but it'll be smoother. If you're with Dr. Rullan I'd finish with a phenol peel if you're up for the risk and 6-month downtime; those weak lasers won't do much.

As for suction cups, you can use the bigger ones - when you get those kits, it'll be pretty obvious which one to use after you play with it for a few minutes. I typically used 2 pumps and then I would glide the cup across my skin. I'd do that several times until my skin was red and slightly more bruised. Try one of the korean suction cups on your arm. You'll get a feel for it. Try it on your face before the procedure. No the doctor never recommended suctioning. I didn't have a clue what I was doing but I had nothing to lose.

For the before/after pictures + percent improvements, I posted them a while back https://www.acne.org/forums/7-scar-treatments/376709-subcisioncross-progress-beforeafter-success-story
