Redness after 4 weeks of Subcision

Hi everyone,

I had subcision on my cheek 4 weeks ago.

I had deeper and bigger scars. As you can see on the attached images my subcision scars haven't healed (one is before, one the same day after the subcision, and the 3rd one is after 4weeks).

Do you think this is normal to have such a long healing time? What are your experiences, will it heal faster after some point?

Thanks!

@miro yes, i contacted with him, and he said it's fine, some people are healing up to 2 weeks, and my scars were deep and bigger. Still, i am worried.

I hope the order of the photos i attached aren't misleading. The purple bruise is after (3rd attachment) and the redness (2nd attachment) is 4 weeks after the treatment.

It looks like you got deep work done, as you noted.

I'm not an expert in how long healing takes and I'm sure it can vary greatly among people depending on the procedure. But just my gut reaction is that it seems normal. Yeah, obviously the first picture is crazy but that's right afterward, but the 4 week one looks like lingering hyperpigmentation, which can happen and usually fades. You look Caucasian (?) and hyperpigmentation usually fades most readily in Caucasian skin, so that's another reason to most likely not need to worry too much.

However, it's always important to be your own advocate! So ask questions and be persistent.

And...it doesn't hurt to take fish oil while healing. Also here's a little more stuff you can do if you wanna hit this from every angle: https://www.acne.org/is-there-anything-you-can-eat-or-take-orally-to-help-prevent-or-treat-acne-scars

Hi Dan,

Yes, i am Caucasian with sensivitve skin. I can see healing, but a slow one (i have read most of the people have 1-2 weeks).

@icikiwir it was a nokor needle.

That's good that you can see healing. Keep us posted please. And always stay your own advocate and politely pester your doc as much as you need to.

@icikiwir it was a nokor needle.

A sharp Nokor needle creates much more collateral damage than a blunt cannula. Nokor cuts through veins, cannula doesn't. I think the long healing process you're seeing is consistent with the extent of the damage that was created during the subcision.

I think the headline here is that subcision seems to have worked pretty well, yeah? So that is very cool. As far as pigmentation goes, I haven't looked at rf microneedling for that, at least recently. Got any quick links I could look at?
