I had a visit with a Dr. Wu from Ulmer & Wu in Long Beach, CA who advised that subcision wasn't indicated for me as he called my condition mild. Ablative lasers are indicated because of my skin type, between III-IV. He offered Resurfx laser treatments that'll be performed by his staff RN, and told me I'd see a 30-40% improvement. He really recommended tretinoin daily use for 2+ years for scar erasure. Also advised if I were to do Resurfx treatments to stay on tretinoin (no skin breaks I guess). I've had microneedling with PRP (i think 4 sessions total) in the past, but as we know the procedure is very operator-dependent and my last treatment seemed to have make my skin look worse.
What would you do? Should I go the non-ablative laser route? (Doing research between Resurfx and Palomar Icon) Are there other non-ablative lasers I should look into? Or should I not waste my money and do longterm tretinoin/at-home microneedling?
Thanks in advance.
Question 1: Why didn't your images show up? If it's a bug with acne.org I will make sure it gets fixed.
Queston 2: You want to go with ablative or not go with ablative? I got confused reading your post.
I don't think non-ablative does much. I also don't think tretinoin does much of anything at all. If I personally had minor scarring like you do, I'd look into ablative and see if I could get it done safely.
The bottom line here is that from everything I've read and experienced with people getting procedures, non-invasive treatments (like non-ablative laser) that only heat or in some other way help the skin produce more collagen don't seem to do much. And topicals in particular don't do much of anything at all once scars are there and permanently on the face.
