Improvement in Temple Scars 2013 vs 2025

After having tried professional Dermaroler and Subcision (twice) followed by Fraxel repair (once) with no results in 2008, I gave up on my persistent and very noticeable scars on my temple. I found a photo that I took of my scrars in the worst possible lighting in 2013. I decided to take another one yesterday in the late afternoon , towards sunset when my scars look their worst. I noticed significant improvement.

I don't know how or when it happened. But the technology in camera phones has come a long way and yet my scars look softer. Maybe 10% to 15% better at best. The sharper edges have smoothed out a little and some of them show signs of improvement.

I have used Jack Black's Line Smoother 8% Glycolic Acid religiously every night before bed for the last 3 to 4 years along with their daily SPF 20 moisturiser. I also drink 2 litres of water per day and have recently started taking collagen supplements in a desperate attempt to hold on to my youth. I doubt the collagen has had an impact as I have only been using it for a couple of months. The softening of the scars could also be down to my age as I'm in my early 40s as opposed to my early 30's when the 2013 photo was taken.

Photos attached

I am still looking to improve on these scars so if anyone has any more tips please feel free to share.

My guess is that this is a natural result of time instead of the topicals you've been using. Topicals (specifically retinoids) can temporarily make things look a little better, but do not alter the collagen loss inside the skin. I just don't want anyone reading this thinking that topicals can permanently reduce atrophic scars.

If you enjoy using the topicals and collagen, hey, go for it, but you could also save money and not use them I would suspect. Not including the sunscreen of course. You can use that to protect your skin from the sun.

As far as if you wanted to reduce the scars, have you tried TCA CROSS? Other than that, you've tried other stuff that hasn't worked, so I'd say fillers could also be interesting. Maybe analogous fat transfer - tranferring your own fat.
