Maya, congratulations on your wonderful results so far! I have been reading your posts for a long time (on other boards as well as this one) and I am so very happy for you. You will be able to put your hair up soon!

1. Maya-is the riskof hyperpigmentation for the surrounding unscarred skin as well if you do a punch excision?

2. My scars are also darker than my surround skin which makes them even more noticeable. :D  So if its sewn up a thin red line should replace my darker ice pit scar?

3. Also, does this slightly depressed red line  able to be completly camouflauged? I think you said it before. So with a concealer till your skin heals from this, it can look completly normal?

1. A little -but not much

2. Yes

3. 80% - but more normal than a hole

Hrm. I would diagnosis you as having moderate rolling scars with boxscars as well. I don't think you have ice picks - not sure.

Tryingtoimprove - I agree - doesn't look you have ice picks -excision may not be for you.

Sothernbelle - Thank you :D

Not2bad - are they ice picks? Like holes? - your photos are not too clear - but if your camera is like mine, then I'd say they are ice picks - in fact, your scars look similar to mine and in the same place when photographed ... also your skin colour is similar to mine - we could be sisters!

Best way to take the photos from my experience - take one from far away and then trim around the photo to just show the scars - so we can have a bigger photo of the scars.

Well I may have a combination of rolling scars and ice pick scars...I know I do have some ice pick scars because I am getting natural peeling done and the lady that does this told me that the peels wouldn't help with my ice pick scarring so that's how I know if I have ice pick scars ...I had been trying to figure out which type I had so I could find an appropriate treatment for them. I do have some holes, and they are not too wide but since there are a lot of them it looks really bad from far away.

The peels by the way are supposed to help rid me of the red and dark marks left behind by acne.

I think that too when I see that picture but sadly that is not me...the scars don't show at all on that picture...wish that was me.Oh well...thank you though for your comment. :D

Thanks Maya for your responses.

I'm still trying to determine what type of depressed scars I have before trying to find the best plastic surgeon in my area.

If some of my depressed scars are NOT ice picks scars (which may eliminate Punch) are the other surgical techniques out there such as subcision, laser resurfacing that are still suitable for out type of skin and as successful what you have with punch excision?

Thanks!

Rock - subcision, skin needling and NLite - I have had them all - so yes, all suitable for our type of Asian skin.

Not2bad - you are very pretty with or without scars. Your scars do not detract against your pretty features.

Maya,

I didn't mean anything offensive about Dr Chu. What I meant is that My chances of getting an appointment with him seem remote. So I was wondering if there was anyone else out there offering the same sort of treatment you have been having. I would love to see Dr Chu.

My 6.5 day update

Most of the pinkiness around the scars is fading very nicely, still a little peeling around the scars are taking place - 4 of them are totally flat!!! the rest (barr one) are just slightly indented but not too much - look like boxscars (still looks better though). I hope they will rise with continued use of the suerr CP serum and Isotrex. Dr Chu did say that sometimes they remain slightly indented - have to wait and see.

I went to the gym today (first time in a few weeks) - the mirrors are so harsh there... but it's true - the difference is pretty good :D (especially on my left side where I had less scars to begin with)

I'm dying to do a lactic peel - just to get rid of the flakiness - think I'll leave it another couple of days and do one.

Thanks Lola! biggrin.gif

I saw that you may be getting some excision with Dr Chu too - yeah, this is the best thing I've had done to my face so far. Around 4 are totally flat (with discolouration though) and the others are all better than before. I am just counting the days till I can have more done - another 2 sessions and most of them will have been excised I hope and then it's possible that I may ask for more subcision just to raise them a little.

Some are still indented and all are pinkish still but I am not too bothered about discolouration as that will go in time. With my Jane Iredale powder, I am noticing how great some parts of my face looks now! biggrin.gif

The red marks left from the excisions look pretty horrible - with makeup, the scars look a lot better. I've ordered the mandelic serum since others are reporting good results from it.

Bad news, a couple of the excised scars that were only slightly indented have indented even more. Overall, they are still better, but instead of the 40-80% improvements for all scars, now it's only around 20 - 60% for the scars.

I'm wondering if you can excise the same area twice?

hi maya ,

i hope you have gone a 2 layer stich instead of 1 layer..One plastic surgeon told me that there is a tendency the scars will become wider if 2nd layer stich is lacking..Coz there is no support inside the skin..the outside skin streaches and become wide...

Don't worry Maya,

It will take atleast a couple of months to see good results ,and with the red marks the scars looks worser than the really are.

You can re excise the same scar twice ,I had a few scars re excised .

The results were good.

But my feeling is excision is not the end , it is only a procedure that will

enhance your results ,because you are always left with a thin line ,

which does not look very nice ,especially if you had quiet a number of scars excised(which was in my case)

Maria/Maya,

I'm glad to hear that you are happy with your results from excision. Just wondering if either of you had any scars on your nose. The reason I ask is that I have one scar on the tip of my nose that really bothers me. I had tried all kinds of different procedures and none delivered anything that is to my satisfaction. I have already had the scar excised and feel like to scar opened up. I wonder if is because the Dr. removed the stitches too quickly (day 4, if I recall) or is the nose area more difficult to treat? One Dr. I visited lately, said he would try to re-excised, but because I tend to have oiler skin on my nose, the risk that the scar opens is higher.

Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Eddy.

Sorry Eddy, I don't have any scars on my nose so I can't advise. Perhaps you could start a new topic/thread - "How to deal with scars on the nose?"

Maya - Thank you for taking the time to respond; It is appreciated. To your suggetion - I did start a new thread awhile ago, but got no response. Maybe I wasn't clear that I was looking for suggestions/experience from others. I'll take a look at what I wrote and will try again.

Maria - Where is your Dr. located? I'm in Canadabut would be more than willing to travel.

Eddy

lonelyman - My doc is Dr Chu - he is as good as you get from the UK - he is a derm AND a qualified surgeon - that is rare to get the combination. I will ask him about tis again - I next see him on the 8th of October.

hi maya, if i were you,try to find a plastic surgeon rather than a dermatologist...make sure your plastic is over 50+year old....Just try to excise only"one" scar(testing) by a plastic surgeon who undergoes a 2nd layer stich...I have consulted now at least 7 plastic surgeons...so the 3 of them sugest a 2nd layer stich,1 of them suggest graft, and the 3 of them suggest a single layer stich...Doctors have different opinion...see
