Im 27F from India with deep scarring left behind after a decade of persistent cystic acne. Im not sure what kind of scarring I have - it could be a mix of icepick, rolling, boxcar. Could you please suggest effective scar treatments for my skin type? Would MNRF/Morpheus be effective? Apprehensive about getting energy based treatments done due to the potential side effects they carry. I got two sessions of Microneedling with PRP done but dont see any effect (I know its too early to form an opinion), but it seems to have only increased the redness of my scars. Does anyone know of an acne scar revision specialist in India?
I had similar amount of scarring but not the shape, mostly icepicks. You have icepicks, maybe some rolling/atrophic aspects, boxcars.
Needling will do zilch, nothing. Also revision probably will do nothing. It will just seek to change the shape but fix practically nothing and make things worse.
There's different scars but my impressions would include possible excision, subcision, aggressive dermabrasion, phenol variants (acid). I really would go to an expert, because it's best to utilize various treatment attempts with an experienced doctor. In my opinion, whenever you have different injuries a different approach is needed one at a time or in chronological order.
Being in India I have absolutely no idea if anyone expert exists there. I would just suggest you sort of consider the above. You don't have to do them all or even in the same few months, just try to isolate scars that would respond to each treatment and do a bunch at a time perhaps, but the key is look for a lot of experience. You don't want some superficial doc doing microneedling again on moderate scars.
Dont consider excision becuase the scarring is not isolated. You have predominantly boxcars and rolling. For rolling I would suggest Taylor liberator considering your risk appetite and for boxcar consider shaving edges. Use phenol cross acid and erbium on top of it to shave the edges
