Please Help Me Determine the Best Treatment for my Scars

I struggled with moderate acne for about 5 years starting at the onset of puberty. I developed a terrible habit of picking at my skin and now I'm left with scarring that I probably wouldn't have had otherwise, very depressing to say the least. These scars shook my confidence to the core and gave me terrible social anxiety that I only recently have been able to start rebounding from. Regardless, I truly want to get rid of these holes in my face for good.

I have spoken to two dermatologists. The first one said that I would be a good candidate for C02 laser, and the second said TCA Cross should do the trick. Unfortunately, money is an issue for me--but if I really will get the best results with something as expensive as laser then I will give it a go.

I actually had a TCA Cross session scheduled for tomorrow but decided it would be best to postpone it since I'm visiting some friends for my 21st birthday in a few weeks, the drinking would probably wreck my healing process.

Can you guys please give me your own insights as to what you think would be best? And what my timeline looks like? It would mean the world to me.

Possibly aggressive dermabrasion like they did back in the day if you can find a doctor who still does it. Most dermabrasion nowadays (post lasers) are weak, but the way I got it they shaved the hell out of all my scars and I had similar icepicks and a lot healed but it did not leave a "great" texture it just healed very well for me. Extremely well. And I had worse than yours. But like I said 2005 dermabrasion was like super aggressive. Now doctors got lazy or abandoned the risks after lasers it seems and the new "dermabrasion" is like a spa treatment.

Depending on the laser it might be worth trying. Something like erbium resurfacing along with maybe some other techniques but I'm not really versed on lasers. Getsmart might be.

TCA cross can be very hit or miss. I will tell you bluntly I saw it widen and/or deepen a few scars in person and saw other cases on here where it worsened things. At the same time, other people have said on here/attested improvement. So I think TCA cross either has to be handled carefully or not at all. I would say this. If you try TCA cross do not let a doctor do like 20 spots to save time. Do 1 spot, do 2 spots max. Test it. Go back if it helps do a few more. I repeat, DO NOT LET A DOCTOR SAVE TIME BY RISKING YOUR FACE. Pay more if needed. That's my best advice. Worsening 20 spots vs 1 or 2 will be hell for you vs being more careful.

There are other potential treatments like a phenol acid type variation but again I know nothing about it.

Also microneedling will do nothing probably so stay clear.

No need to risk dermabrqsion. You have 10 percent scars ice pick and 90 percent enlarged pores problem. Get on to cerave retinol resurfacing serum. And not sure if treating those scars worth or not. Maybe 2 sessions of phenol and erbium combo abrasion
