Hi guys so this is a personal experience i am going to share with ya all. Firstly i will start with, your comments and suggestions have made me feel a lil better, so thank you for that. Now, back to the topic CORTISONE DENTS!!! I literally have like 9-10 dents and hypopigmentation in the area where i was injected with cortisone 10mg/ml to reduce my non going acne lessions last month! The acne went away without leaving any sort of scarring or mark i was quite happy until 1 week before hypopigmentation then gradually these horrible depressions came up and literally changed my face ! Now i look disfigured because its like a chunk of my face bitten up off! But because of an incidence i know they will fill up in few months. In April last i got a cystic acne injected on the side of my face that too left a indentation few weeks after but the thing is i could not relate that time its because of steroid injection. After getting all these dents i went to look up at the previous one and it was not there!! Like not even a mark or anything!! In two months it got filled up with my own fat and collagen!! So i guess I should just wait and let them fill + i had 1session of saline injections also and noticed a difference in atrophy hopefully i will recover soon from this trauma. Good luck to me!!

For me I was a little confused by a little of what you wrote but got the gist of it. Yes, steroids are dangerous stuff. I found out first hand when a simple moderate topical not only caused (initially 3-5 months) burning sensations but also lines and highlighting my old scars, be it hyperpigmentation or irritation. Over many months the effects seemed to fade though. At first I sorta thought it was atrophic to some degree at it may have been but over time I think the pigment changes gave that illusion too.

All I can say from reading is long term use is usually permanent. My situation was literally under 2 weeks of use and it still affected me. I would caution anyone to get off them asap but also only use when totally unavoidable.

If you have damage or perceived damage or changes from them, if you haven't used them long term then many times it fades or blends somewhat over time. But then again that's usually. I'll be honest, most steroids shouldn't even be legal on the face unless completely necessary. Using steroids on thin areas is insane. But quick use effects can fade over months.

Take good care, vitamins, eat well, and don't use steroids it's just a slide downwards.

I have topical steroid it usually causes pigment issues and fades over time. My dermatologist says the skin should be normal after about 6 months with sunscreen and face wash use + i am using retin A alternatively ( the previous dent is filled completely) i have avoided any contact with steroids. Taken orally, topically or injected steroids only give side effects and no solution! Better to stay off them

For me I noticed some bettering around 6 months but it's taken me 12 months to see the highlighted scars, pores, lines and even irritation fade. Even the scars themselves turned red or were prone to turning red for months.

I would not suggest any steroids for anyone. Steroids are contraindicated for thin areas and face unless absolutely necessary and are contraindicated for rosacea or "open wounds" which in reality is probably a gray area with scar tissue.

Retin A (tretinoin) might be helpful I can't really tell. It hasn't made anything worse taking it 2x a week for a while but I don't see miraculous results either. Probably worth a shot for some people.

I am using retin-A as well and all i get is lots of skin peeling while moisturising, its been only 1 month on Retin-A 0.05% 3x a week might see results in upcoming months ;)
