Hi All,

3 weeks ago I found out I had eczema my dermatologist prescribed me Advantan ointment (Methylprednisolone aceponate 0.1% w/w) for my eczema &  APX-Doxycycline (doxycycline as hyclate) for my acne.

I've been on it for 3-4 week so far and got 1 more month to go. Thankfully I no longer have acne and eczema which now I'm left with with acne scars and hyperpigmentation

I'm wondering is is possible to undergo acne scar treatment while I'm still using these prescribed products or should I wait for 1 month then get acne scar treatment?

If I do need to wait the 1 month, is there any over the counter products that can reduce the scarring in the mean time?

Also what type of treatment do I need for my acne scars?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm not sure if it's "wise" to do procedures on any medication that messes with oil or pores, because of the healing, but as far as I know Accutane is the only thing outright banned from surgery for like 6 months. Personally if you do any major surgery be sure to ask.

I would suggest dermabrasion for you because I think you could blend all of that really well like I did mine. Do super aggressive dermabrasion. However, it's riskier for ethnic skin so ask someone first if it's okay. If not, maybe erbium laser. Dermabrasion won't cure fat loss really but so long as your cheeks are "straight" and not pushed around it will blend and make invisible the scars like 80-85% if it works like it did for me.

Others might tell you to try TCA cross for some, but I'm a much bigger fan of dermabrasion because it neither risks widening or deepening it just blends and reheals. You possibly could do a excision for any scars that you feel are too deep or your surgeon feels before an ablative dermabrasion or laser.

Lastly, I'm not familiar with that topical your taking but as a sufferer of eczema/dermatitis and other things, I would consider trying a nizoral or t-gel for your hair (OTC) and/or a ketoconazole for your face. The hair and face is often linked with disorders like that, which can make it uncomfortable.Often acne is not just bacterial but it may be fungal as well. Both may exist on the face/hair. I just thought I'd share in case you hit a roadblock or feel you have other issues going on. Doxy is also good but don't take too much dosage forever, I think 50mg and under is fine, but try to get down to 20-30mg a day. Doxy has a 5 day "life cycle" so basically it sorta lingers in your body for a while.

Hi, use tretinoin cream (start with %0.025) and

Vitamin C serum

for your hyperpigmentation.

If this doesnt works, you can try acids like mandelic acid or salycilic acid.

if mandelic or salycilic wont lighten your scars, then you can try TCA acids but very light one. also be very carefull with tca since you are prone to hyperpigmentation it can be mess.

Your scars is mostly boxcar half of them shallow i can suggest at home dr.pen sessions it will make them more blend.

For professional treatments i can suggest fractional erbium, cause some of your scars is shallow so it needs ablation.

I should try Vitamin C serum I take 1-2 tablets of Vit C daily I hope that works though.

Good suggestion , tretinoin is a decent idea for hyperpigmentation or just texture blending, at least that's the theory. I use tretinoin very here and there. Like I just used it today but haven't for a month, because I use other stuff to control condition. I think using tretinion twice a week couldn't hurt along with vitamins.
