Best dermapen for boxcar scars?

Hi everyone,

After trying multiple procedures (1 session of subcision with Juvederm filler, 1 TCA cross session, 3 CO2 sessions, and multiple chemical peels) I feel like my scars aren™t improving at all. After doing some research I found that there are dermapens that seem to produce great results. I™ve come across the Derminator 2 and Dr. Pen. Has anyone had luck with these? Just by doing a quick search it seems like these two are rivals and the people from Derminator clearly lurk the forums to hype it up. I just wasn™t sure if their claims are true since they seem to trash talk other companies which is a red flag to me. I™m just tired of constantly spending money on procedures that haven™t worked so I just want to know if anyone has had much success with dermapens for scars like mine. I also have TCA acid at home that seems to work well for my temples so I™d alternate between the dermapen and the acid. 93EAE0B0-5936-4E2D-998A-EE20F804672E.jpeg.ba0b62ef222c1c95739be046f5caa86e.jpeg004E6097-FC52-4606-BABE-C6C61B08806B.jpeg.cb342c7f4f9966d2b22225061b3b7b35.jpeg

If I were you I'd do subcision-suction like this person:

Make sure the doctor does subcision in the superficial layer of the dermis, but not thesubepidermis. And then do the exact same suction above. You can buy this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003KJC2F4/ side note you actually don't need the hose you can attach the pump directly to the cup.

Yeah If I'm being honest too dermapen is going to be a waste of time for you. I'm surprised you got no progress from subscision, maybe try another doctor for it to be honest. I wouldn't even be against Dermabrasion or Laser for your case eventually assuming you could first improve the fat loss first.

Did the C02 do nothing? Did the chemical peels do nothing? Did they make it or the texture worse?

Dermabrasion isn't very good for larger or deep scars with fat loss but I would look at the option to fix texture as well but you need a sculptra/subscision or something to heal the gaps. Personally you might want to see more of an expert like some on this board have seen like that guy in CA because you may need a few things and it seems like you wasted enough money on things that don't work. Without a doubt though the biggest progress (first step) is going to have to come from finding solutions to the fat/texture loss without that you can't build upon it.

Anyone have any ideas?

just to add from my personal experience, and I have some scars similar to OP (you'd say they're boxcar scars right?), I got 3 professionalsessions of dermapen with PRP, 2mm length, cost over $2kand really didn't make that much of a difference.

I was saying to him for subcisionI'm pretty sure it matters where the doctor cuts the tethers i.e. what plane, at least when doing suctioning after, because of where your blood pools can induce the area being healed, adding more tissue. Essentially this area that was cut is better able, when healing, to pushup the scar to be more level with the rest of the skin. This is from reading https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20553364/ where they mentioned it's imperative to cut in the "superficial dermis" and that"superficial dermal undermining" gave more effective results opposed "not so effective"when they cut lower in the dermis.

Yep, I think that's totally correct and I often used that site to diagnose a lot of things, it's extremely helpful. I would just say to OP try another doctor with subscision and/or maybe sculptra. I totally feel for him about the money waste and the prior failures. But from what I can see I would probably do the subscision first or other fat building methods and the move on to texture/overall repair.

Might be more acceptable to approach more well known doctors at this point like the ones discussed positively on this board. Personally I really feel like people who have had little success previously or are still struggling should be able to get grants to help. I wish I was a billionaire I'd establish grants.
