Hello I have PTSD from doctors. Long story shirt I have been scarred by Facialists who picked and squeezed my cystic acne leaving me with indented scars and have had micro needing which sometimes went fine ( no results on scars just a lot of money ) and once left me with what looks like dragging lines all over my face which took a long time to heal. I also have ethnic skin and everything causes me to hyper pigment. Everything. Anyway , it is very hard for me to trust any doctor or Facialist but I do want to try to make my scars less noticeable. My question is this : if I go to Dr Rullan how can I Start slow with treatment. Do you think I can have more appointments where I do a test area or ? I truly dont want to commit to a full face of subscison or have all of the scars treated with tca cross until I feel comfortable but i am worried this isnt the.norm and I dont know how to approach it. Any advice appreciated thank you.
Just call his office up and ask. I feel you 100%. I'm seeing him soon and I've been feeling anxious about all the"what if I'mcoming out worse after the treatment." But honestly I haven't seen a single negative review for Dr. Rullan on this forum and I think that attests to his ability and experience.
Apprehension is natural since you have already put your trust in Facialists and they failed you. Begin with the least intrusive treatments first, and then progress in intensity until something works for you. I am an advocate off lasers, and still I believe they should remain as your final option because if done at the proper levels they are quite intense. Please contact me before you do any laser because most doctors will try to sell you non-ablative lasers and they are worthless. You will get a lot of good suggestions on this forum so try what they suggest - you are going to have to be brave - this is not a one and done thing.
I was the same and very scared of dermatologists before I started my journey. Trusting a doctor with your skin is a big step!
You could meet with Dr Rullan and discuss treatment plans and go from there. I have met Dr Rullan on more than a few occasions and couldnt have felt more comfortable. He knows his stuff and produces results. In terms of a scar revision doctor, you cant go wrong. He has been doing scar revision for a long time.

I'm seeing Rullan this week! What was your experience with phenol cross like? Any lasting redness or hyperpigmentation?
Heasked me to choose between microneedling and erbium, and I picked microneedling because it seems less invasive. What was the reason that you opted for erbium?
@shei514how much improvement have you seen and how long would you say before You were completely healed between sessions ? I worry about hyperpigmentation not going away from cross

Phenol cross is the procedure that took me the longest to heal from. I wouldnt say I have lasting hyperpigmentation from it at all. But keep in mind it could take a month, maybe longer to heal from it but by about day 10-4 youre basically healed and good.
Rullan didnt give me a choice really he just thought Erbium was a better fit so I went with it. Ive never had microneedling with him.

Ive had a lot of improvement! With Rullan, its hard to say but significant Improvement thats for sure. I have photos of my journey with him on my thread. I would say completely healed within a few weeks to a month. I have no hyperpigmentation that has remained from my cross sessions with Rullan but everyone is different.
