As I've beenresearching the effectiveness of RF microneedling, I wanted to see the research that practitionersrely on to justify it's supposed great effectiveness. There aren't many peer reviewed research articles published on the subject, but I did find this one comparing treatment of a nonablative fractional laser with RF microneedling, which concludes:
Quote"Scar severity scores (ECCA grading scale) improved by a mean of 25.0% and 18.6% in groups A and B, respectively (both P < 0.01). The difference in the degree of improvement was not statistically significant between the groups after three sessions of treatment. There were no significant side effects." (see footnote 1 at end of post)
Well, that sounds positive, in that the RF microneedling seems as good as a laser. Butthen I found a newer paper, published in 2016, where, in a clinical trial, the researchers compared microneedling to a similar fraction laser. In that study, the researchers conclude:
Quote"Both groups showed a significant improvement, and there was no statistically significant difference between results of both therapies (p = .264)." (see footnote 2 at end of post).
I only have access to the abstracts of these two papers, which do not detail the methods used, but this is some evidence that adding RF to microneedling does not make it more effective.

@Brent21 There are thousands of papers proving the effectiveness of rf needling.
It seems, you cherry picked one paper. This means nothing to most Drs who have clinical experience treating thousands, ... and sooooooooo many other Dr's have the same result, it becomes public knowledge. If RF needling was pointless it would be gone by now, ... the market is cruel and quick with medical devices. Instead it's one of the hottest things aesthetics Dr's are purchasing.
Perhaps there is a misunderstanding with the purpose of these academic papers / split blind studies and what a thesis or ""idea"" is. It's simply a thought-idea-hypothesis that has to be proved through real like experience (the above one you provided is flawed). I can write a paper or do a study and prove Aliens exist, ... this means nothing. you will say where is the proof. I will show you some black goo and weird markings and write a paper on it, perhaps sponsored by a device competitor, or a jaded Dr, or the pharmaceutical industry, or someone trying to be edgy - against everyone else's data and get some recognition /interviews . All you have to do is write a paper/ do a study "they" do not exist.
A paper from 2016 is old at this point in the world of medical devices.
Rf needling in it's simplest form does not have to be proven, ... we already know laser works, ... it works in the same way but protects the upper epidermis, that is all. In fact the FDA does not make any device prove such things that use similar techniques to how laser works, been there and done that so why bother when millions if not billions of dollars haven proven lasers work as a swiss army knife (many ways).
This is histology from rf needling, ... so yes it's been studied, ... this is basic stuff with any energy device. Now I cannot say how you will heal or if this is appropriate for you, this is a individual thing that depends how your skin reacts, your general health, and multiple other factors. It may do nothing for you as nothing is certain in acne scar treatment - "except" how your body responds.
Acne Scar treatment is NOT a mono - treatment with one device or modality. Instead of shopping for devices, try to find the best practitioner that has the skills to fix your scars. Otherwise, yes your right it really does not matter what they use, might as well be blasted by laser like every terrible Dr Does.
I would like to know from people here on forum that did Infini or Lutronic genius or any type of Microneedling RF what is your
experience ?
Improvement ? Any side effects ? How long it took for your skin to heal ? I mean people on internet say mostly that grid marks from needles are main problem and that it takes really long time for those "marks" to disappear, some say month.

I did Infini rf. It is one of the best treatment I have gotten, but I only realised how effective it is 6 months after my last session. What is impressive is it successfully filled some shallow scars that even subcision couldn't do anything about. Deeper scars showed maybe 50% improvement, but I did do some subcision too so I'm not sure how much credit could be given to Infini.
Side effects - yes, you will have grid marks, but they aren't obvious. You'll mostly look a little red, like you've gotten a sunburn. The marks disappear in about a month. You will not see results for a while, and I was ready to condemn the whole thing as scam until three months after my first session, I woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed something changed. A small scar at my right cheek had fill up. I looked closely at the rest of my scars and all of them some new flesh filling up.

Thank you for your answer, may i ask , did u do whole face or just areas - zones where you had scars ? Also do u remember how deep doctor went with needles and on which zone ? F.e. Forehead seems to have thinner skin then rest of face .

I did the whole face. My scars only cover my cheeks and temples but my derm said he might as well cover the whole face because the tip is disposable, and it would be a waste. He does 3 passes, each one deeper. I honestly can't remember the depth.
