Hello guys i am new here joined the forum today itself while searching for the tca peel & find the information on website very helpful i undergoes treatment for acne scars last year but stopped due to (budget strain) & not finding the treatment by dermatologist satisfactory looking to do the tca peel at home & need second opinion how to start i am indian ,skin color is light brown i try to list the treatment which i undergoes so u all have better understanding for my regimen
- Dermatologist inspected my skin & suggested me three ways to improve scars first chemical peel , subsicion & lastly laser
- I started using the glycolic acid & salicylic acid facewash , glycolic acid cream ,Tretinoine & vitamin c serum according to doctors advice
- After a month he has done a glycolic acid peel 25 percent which reddens my skin & slight peeling occurs& i use mild skin treatment for a week untill the skin repairs
- Next month another peel done of 35 percent no skin irritation this time no skin peeling in short nothing much happens this continue for next two peel for 50 percent & 75 percent this time also skin peeling is negligible only slight irritation in last 75 percent peel
- After that he done one sitting of subsicion & he said one sitting is enough
-Fast forward one month i undergoes first ablative laser that i dont like how he has done he only done on spots not on full face & at low settings he said he will gradually increase the settings on upcoming sittings or depth he applies lidocaine shoddily so i discontinue the treatment
Now guys after discontinuing the treatment its been a year now i am looking to do the tca peel 15 percent at home i have read the instructions carefully and started the prepeel treatment of glycolic acid facewash & cream & after reading instruction on website looking to use hydrocortisone i have purchased vitamin c serum also
will i mix hydrocotisone & vitamin c serum before applying on face ? is my prepeel treatment alright or should i make some changes
I have pigmentation on forehead & skin is slightly wrinkled on forhead which bothers me most is tca peel appropriate treatment or should i look for some other peels
If tca is appropriate should i start with 15 percent strength or any other

@Anshul11That is a weaker peal, 15% is to test for sensitivity. There are higher concentrations. Especially if you have ethnic skin be careful and patch test as the guide says. Oil can be normal, ... I do not know the purity of your peel as there are different quality and application techniques. Often online brands can use inferior acids. In case of confusion buy the peel from MUAC who has awesome customer service or have it done by a med spa and a dr and see how you do for one session.

Thanks BA for replying yes skin is ethnic type i have used 15 percent peel in two passes after 3 days slight peeling on cheeks now skin is dry not much oily its been a week now looking to do a second peel
One more question is salicylic peel helpful in Boxcar acne scars as i read some studies according to them it is helpful
Giving the link below for study paper
@Anshul11
Remember we are peeling once a month or more, I would not be doing peels overly often, the body takes time to heal. I see your trying to keep lower percentage peels so possibly it's ok, ... I just see some people make mistakes with this and the skin has not healed enough. Salicylic acid can be helpful, it opens pores and is anti-inflammatory. I don't see it used with resurfacing spot peels often or for tca cross etc. I use all acid types. It's worth trying. Glycolic can give you a deeper peel and TCA even deeper. If your set on at home procedures also do dermastamping and or the Derminator to the individual boxcars angled to the borders of the scar. Then alternate your peels monthly. Dr's for box cars will do paint on where they paint the acid into scar bed only, no drrips,, multi-layer. Angled CO2 laser for box cars is very effective they angle the laser only on the scar walls of each boxcar to soften them in a low density mode 3-7% and full power.
