I followed BA's guide (I think he got this from Rullan althought not too sure) since I wasn't given given any specific post-care instructions after going through the peel:
" You will gradually transition from heavier to lighter lotions as your skin heals and these are our recommendations. Switch from Vaseline or Aquaphor to EPIONCE's MEDICAL BARRIER CREAM as soon as possible to minimize acne and milia. The Barrier Cream will become 'too heavy" around week 3, and actually can make your face more red, so change to a lighter cream like Hyalotopic to Hyaluronic Acid Serum. You can even try serums with Vitamin C which may actually feel lighter and reduce your redness faster than lotions."
I may need to go out tomorrow and get some products and quit using the Vaseline after tonight. It was super dry so I was using it a light heavy. I might get something with vitamin C in it. I do have a hyaluronic acid serum that Dr Rullan gave me. Kinda stuck on what to get for a lighter cream I have nivea soft cream moisturiser not sure if this will do the trick.
Thinking of getting something like this.

Did you had enlarged pores before phenol and what do you think it did to that. Did it remove those enlarged pored. Do you have any regrets doing this procedure ?

Not really enlarged pores more ice pick scars. If what Im seeing holds currently then no regrets but Im kinda shifting day to day. Some days the skin looks really beat up and days like today the scarring looked quite minimal. Its going to be interesting seeing the final results.
Here we are at day 21 - I will stop with the daily updates and post when requested to. I posted today in a range of lighting conditions
right cheek extremely harsh lighting angled
left cheek shown in very harsh lighting - some breakouts post procedure
again right cheek in harsh lighting
left cheek again in harsh lighting
left cheek

Thanks again for empowering community with knowledge. Your contribution to this community is invaluable. By the way what do you think about your texture post 21 days after treatment compared to baseline pre peel?
Thanks for being so thorough with sharing photos daily and letting us see for ourselves what the deep peel can do for scars and texture. I know that many are intersted in the procedure as well asin the doctor. While there might still be some degree of swelling going on, your scars look greatly improved to me at the moment. Really hope (for you and for me) that the effect holds!

Thank you! The texture is looking really good now here at day 21/22. When I step into overhead lighting I dont look nearly as bad and same when I angle the lighting I cant see nearly as much texture on the left and right cheeks. Theleft side has had the most improvement thus far which is good because its my worst cheek by far. Im really impressed with the results and hope I can expect more but we shall see. I can even pass for normal in certain lighting as well which is exciting.

Also do you happen to remember if he used tongue depressor or curette for scraping acne scars on day 2?

Any specific reasons he chose this method instead of curette? Wouldntusing curette be more specific for abrasions on the scar edges. But you cant abrade with the other one, I am guessing his goal was just removing the freshly damaged skin and apply peel on top?

You look great! You have a little acne probably from the petroleum product but with the right cleanser and care they will disappear. Shei, don't forget to live. We are now approaching August, only 5 months left of this year, make it all count! Make memories, laugh, cry, grow. Whatever happens, you will always be beautiful.
@shei514you will heal well, you deserve it.
Did you ever consider Sculptra? What docs were saying about it?

Im not 100% sure but when I asked the nurse he said that phenol is doing most of the work and then something about scraping with the tongue depressor. He did that first and then applied phenol on my cheeks afterwards.

Yeah Vaseline probably is the main source of my breakouts lol but Im not too worried about them for now. Thank you! I was reading your thread earlier youre looking fantastic! Great results.

Thank you, and yes I have considered it but it has never been recommended by a dermatologist yet and I wonder why because it stimulates collagen, right? It doesnt seem to be dermatologists filler of choice for some reason.

Looking good so far. The scar progression usually goes from ice pick boxcar rolling scar and this is how it seems to be going for you as well. Before getting fillers, especially permanent ones, consider flattening the edges as much as possible. Otherwise, it will only make it more visible.

Yes I have been having that thought myself. I have attached a photo from a couple of years ago where I have filler - 2019. Although I like the effect it can make the scarring look a little strange which is my concern¦
However this has been a 4+ journey for me - are some scars forever?
4 hours ago, getsmart121 said:Hey did you ever had fully ablative erbium or co2 laser. I dont mean the fractional one?
if yes, what was your experience in terms of improvement, downtime?
Yes fully ablative erbium twice (six weeks apart). The dermatologist at the time told me I would get 50% improvement and I didnt (obviously). The downtime was about a week and the improvement was minimal. I was super desperate and got my hopes up.

Do you think your outcome would have been different if you had done it today since you had lifted a lot of your scars.
I am trying to understand if it phenol chemobrasion results can be replicated by fully ablative erbium laser?

6 weeks are pretty quick for a fully ablative laser treatment. Also Erbium has less ablative depth comparing to co2. It is good for texture scarring. If you have something more than that, then co2 might be a better choice.

I dont think so. Phenol peel is considered to be a step above fully ablative lasers (CO2 or Erbium).
yes, someone can do a series of fully ablative laser.. but even then, replication cannot be assumed since one Phenol can get you the results of a series of fully ablative lasers plus potentially some..
