@Amp2695oh yeah? The 600 is the lowest I've seen the spa have it for so far. It's usually 900. So do you think I should do that once before my second sub?

idk you should ask BA. but i think he told me that would be fine as long as you do it 3 months later, idk i would ask him.

Just quickly read through this, but awesome progress. I'm not sure what you are deciding with filler, but if they truly are very superficial now, I would probably do a finer filler than Sculptra. Sculptra is more for revolumizing wide areas of volume loss / sunken cheeks. It might be too unpredictable if used superficially since who knows how aggressive of a immune response your body mounts to the sculptra. You don't want lumps. Btout perhaps Dr. Rullan knows how to fine tune it so you avoid those lumps.

Reading all the great stories about Rullan makes me wish I could go back in time and started my journey with him. Top notch guy all around.

@dazzedI agree. He is amazing. I really think the suctioning worked wonders though, so if and when I get fillers it will probably be after an infini treatment or two to postpone anymore invasive type of treatments and for money. Lol. Have you had any experience with a jessner tca combo peel as I think I'd like to get a deeper type tca in office combined with jessner. I actually have both of them at home but for a deeper layered peel I'm too afraid to do it myself. I can do lighter ones on my own though as I have in the past.

@beautifulambition the renew spa that was mentioned earlier has a special for the gold plated radio frequency microneedling for face and neck right now for 600. Do you think it would matter how deep they really go as far as helping me. My scars after subcision are so surface oriented now and pretty shallow. Do u think itd be beneficial despite an acne scar specialist using it for that purpose and just getting it done for collagen build up period? Like do you think it would help no matter what at this point? This spa has a great rep and is the first to bring radio frequency microneedling to the area. I'm just nervous they could do harm for the improvement I have so far which I think is pretty tremendous at this point. Also would it have a bad effect on the hematomas? They are getting smaller.

The red area is an area that was missed by the doctor. The top and bottom left are from today. I am showcasing my side that had the worst scarring.

It has been 6 weeks and 3 days from date of procedure

Yes I do think rf needling will help you. Remember to space out treatments 3 months apart.

If they are experienced and have done quite a few you should be fine. You can always do a test area of the face and come back for the rest if your concerned. No I don't think it can make your hematomas worse, ... I don't see any. You can always get them injected with steroid if you need.

It's been about 2 more weeks since I've last updated, my collagen is still rebuilding and I think there's been even more improvements as the time goes on. Definitely feeling good about subcision.

Its been forever.  I thought id update. I havent done anything else besides a tca/jessner at home peel a few months ago. Im positive all i will need is one more subcision to satisfy me. I belive the three weeks suctioning afterwards were key. The deeper areas on both cheeks are areas that were missed as you all know. Best wishes to you all. P.S. Dr Rullan is a ROCKSTAR!!!

Congrats on all your success,@Cleopatra88 . I genuinely see a lot of improvement from your first photos.

If you don't mind me asking - I noticed you said you were from Idaho, and Dr. Rullan is in California. How many times did you fly to see him, and did you fly back the same day or stay in California for a day or more to recover? I'm asking because I'm considering visiting a doctor who isn't local, and I am trying to figure out travel arrangements, whether I'll need a hotel, etc.

Ive heard people head back the same day depending on the procedure, though Id imagine youd want to get a hotel at least for a night. Dr rullan is well worth it. I wish I would have started my journey with him!

@JamesTani have only flown there once and have only had the subcision with microneedling done. I stayed a few days to visit with my grandfather that lived in the area, but i actually flew back home on the same day i had the procedure done. I was with my mother in law, thank god. It was very embarrassing and i needed the support. Lol. Im a shy person though. I wore giant sunglasses and kept a hood on.

Hello all, it's been years and of course life got the best of me and I got busy. I am scheduled for my second subcision on March 10th. I'll post updates. I'm going to suction for a whole month, that was suggested by a specialist in injections. She said the longer the better, I'll be doing filler after the month of suctioning. Still debating on what filler. She suggested radiesse because it's cheaper than sculptra and sculptra can be unpredictable and move if not mixed with another filler to hold it in place in deep scarred areas, as this is usually needed to be massaged into the skin for weeks. Any advice would be amazing. I'm sure I have added a few more scars since the last time I had subcision due to having quite a few bad breakouts during some intense detoxing and switching to a full plant based diet. I'll get pics up for you all soon. Xoxo

Congrats on the journey! I had three subcisions with him. No filler the first time, voluma with #2, and sculptra with #3. Spaced out #2 and #3 four months a part and have had no issues with sculptra and it's been six months. I've heard about this massaging thing with sculptra on here but I don't believe there's any need to do that. Do your research and choose what's best for what will help yourself the most. Cheers.

@dodgerguy wow, thanks so much for the guidance. How are your results?  I'm still debating on sculptra vs radiesse. Radiesse is cheaper and the injector I'm going to actually recommended it over sculptra, she has had 18 years experience with it , it would be about 1/3 less. It's up to me though and I find comfort in sculptra being our own collagen. She said radiesse can be dissolved if their are issues but not with sculptra. This crap is complicating. Lol but I will suction for 4 to 6 weeks per her advice. She also recommended doing a deep sea peel before filler because it could remove alot of shallow scars. Have you heard of it? It's a level 3 peel and has absolutely no chemicals In it. Have u done any peels? I'm familiar with tca and jessner . I've done it at home quite a few times but not in forever.  Thanks in advance.

Here is a recent pic before my second subcision! :)

20200220_143010.jpg

Here is the Other side, has more scarring now, but mostly volume loss and the areas that need subsided are still the areas Rullan missed last time. I'll be sure to emphasize the importance of these specific scars this next go around :)

You're welcome! My results have been good overall! I went in 2 weeks ago and did phenol CROSS with erbium laser, as he thought I would benefit more with laser then microneedling. Still felt like I should hold off on subcision so I didn't do it. I've done chemical peels in the past and they did nothing for scars. Peels help with texture issues if you do a lot, but I don't think they'll help with rolling and boxcar scars. The deepest peel you can do is a phenol peel, and that peel will not wipe away your scars so I doubt this deep sea peel will do much. Can't go wrong with filler or Sculptra, as they both will help keep scars from re-tethering. Chinese cupping can also help if you don't do an injections. I see improvement from your previous pics so here's to more improvement!

@Cleopatra88 Not sure where your injector got this idea, but NEITHER Sculptra or Radiesse can be dissolved. The only type of filler that can be dissolved are HA fillers like Restylane or Juvederm. In the end though, it's about the skill of your injector. If they're telling you that they prefer Radiesse, they're basically telegraphing to you that they don't have much experience in Sculptra. I would not push for Sculptra if they do not have the skill set for it.

As for Sculptra being your own collagen, that's not exactly accurate either. BOTH of them induce collagen production, but Sculptra is to a greater degree. Sculptra uses ground up suture material that causes an inflammatory response that causes the body to wall off the particles with collagen. Radiesse works in the same way but it uses pulzerized calcium crystals.

@dazzed, yes I asked her once again at my next appointment , we talked about so many fillers, I was mistaken, it was juvederm that she was talking about. Do you think that sculptra would be beneficial for me? Do you think radiesse acts like a foreign object in the body? As I'm removing my breast implants due to breast implant illness and wanting to rid myself of anything that could cause a bad immune response. they say radiesse stays in the body for 7 years, and I want to make sure it's not something thatd effect me negatively in the long run.

Okay so I had subcision yesterday,  I cant say that I was 100 percent happy, as I paid for full face subcision and they didnt do my forhead but made me pay full face price. I had to email amy whom apologized and said I would be discounted next time which in no way helps the fact that my whole treatment plan with my home dermatologist is ruined due to this. And who knows when I'll be able to afford to fly to San Diego and have another one done. Its disheartening. and I'm not quite sure how I feel about cannula being used this time as I can see certain scar areas where it did not effect it whatsoever.  Only time will tell I guess...... I did not have filler. I am suctioning for up to 6 weeks as my home dermatologist recommended and will then do a deep peel , followed by filler after we see what we are left with. She did tall about using halo laser instead of peel. has anyone heard of this?

@Urbanite, this is my second subcision. I waited about 1 year and 10 months til I got my second, but not bychoice, work and a lot of personal things got me off track. I'm back on it though, and am going to try and be more aggressive this year!!! I'll be suctioning for 4 to 6 weeks this go around.

I've been disappointed this time around, there was a specific area I said bothered me most and he missed it completely. Its probably the main reason I went there along with my forhead which was also not done despite having paid extrafor it. They offered to discount me such a small portion that it didnt even cover the cost for forhead alone and said they'd do it free next time, but now I have to pay more money than was offered to be credited to just fly back there along with all the other expenses that come along with it. And who knows when I can afford that, in the mean time I cant go forward with any other treatment plans, because subcision hasn't been completed on all the problem areas. Soooooo dissatisfied.

Hey there, I just wanted to say that I think youre beautiful regardless of your scars. I myself have scars and from time to time feel poorly about them. But it is within all of us that we can accept and love ourselves even if we havescars or any other flaws. Over time we can shift our self perceptionto a morehealthier and more positive inner dialogue. One that can uplift us and give us the strength to love and accept ourselves completely regardless of our flaws.
