Dermarolling Questions

Hi guys. Just wanted to ask a few quick questions about dermarolling. I already decided that I'm gonna start with a 0.5mm dermaroller. My questions are, what should I cleanse my face with prior to rolling? I usually just cleanse with Cetaphil Daily Cleanser but I'm not sure would that be okay for dermarolling. How's a bar of soap, or maybe even Betadine and rinsing my face afterwards and letting it airdry before I start rolling? Planning to use it to help clear up some post-hyperpigmentation and acne scars caused by all the acne throughout the last 10 years or so.

Also, after dermarolling, would it be okay to just apply whatever Vitamin C serum or whatever stuff that would help speed up the healing process of the scars? Or should I just rinse my face with water, let it dry then apply whatever serum?

Hopefully someone who has experience with dermarolling and acne scars can chime in. Hoping there are some that found huge success!

Rubbing alcohol should be just fine.

Baby wipes --> rubbing alcohol --> roll, roll, roll your face --> copper peptide or vitamin c

.5mm does nothing for scarring, it's just for product penetration.

Betadine is fine or Hibiclens, Alcohol can be drying to some people.

You don't rinse your face with water after rolling, you want the blood to stay there (this won't happen with .5mm to little).

Read the Derminator thread, lots of info in there, goto the faq top post of the acne scar sub, then microneedling - derminator link for tons of info.

Some vitamin c can cause skin issues, ... they now say to use nothing except HA serum when miconeedling, you can latter (several hrs after) apply the Vit C serum and have less reactions.

Thanks, appreciate it. So after using my cleanser, I'd use betadine on my face then rinse it off right?

I'm aware that 0.5mm might be a little short for the scars that I have, so I'll go to 0.75mm later then maybe even 1mm. 0.5mm to start with because I don't know what I'm gonna be feeling, really not sure how sensitive my face is.

Not a big fan of needles.

I'll definitely give the thread a look. Will look into some HA serum too, any recommendations?

Thanks again!

@AcneScars12You clean, Betadine, you don't even have to wash it off, but you can if you don't like the color. Needle, and do nothing. You can use a HA serum ... There are so many checkout the top rated ones on Amazon. Put another coating of HA when your done. Several hours later you can put Vitamin C serum if you wish, some this is irritating and they do not do it during needling.

HAHA this is why the derminator you can put com after it for a website is the cheapest option, the needles go multiple lengths, goes supper quick so it does not hurt like manual (aka your not a fan of needles, so better option). Etc.
