Hi guys
Sorry for posting a bit in recent times, I just need a last word of advice now before I go ahead with procedures for my scarring, so this will hopefully be my last post until skin updates in the coming months.
I recently posted on here asking for advice on what I should do for my scars. Two of you experienced members suggested I look into TCA peels and the derminator to help with my scarring, also suggesting fillers would NOT be worth it, as my scars are too shallow.
I then went to see a derm a few days later, who seemed reasonably knowledgable. He suggested that I have fillers put in, followed by 2-4 sessions of TCA cross, then followed by 1-2 TCA peels to finish it off.
Now, you can see why I'm in a tough head space here, do I listen to the derm, or to the people that have bucketloads of experience with scarring on this website?
Ive attached 2 photos below, I guess I just want to know - do you guys believe your suggestions would work better for my scarring than the derms suggestion? If so, I will change my treatment plan with him asap.
Thanks
Go with what your derm says, it seems reasonable, it just adds filler onto what we recommended, not that different. While some Drs are money hungry or give funny advice, this seems reasonable. He is there after all to see your scars, feel them, put light at different angles so in a way he has a better perspective. Of course I would not do something to outrageously expensive if thats not feasible. Go with a HA based filler in case it needs to be dissolved for any reason.
Thanks BA. Will go through with fillers then.
The other point though is that he suggested TCA cross, whereas you guys suggested TCA peels - and considering I have mostly boxcars, I would've thought peels would be better for me. Do you think cross would work for my scars as he's suggested?
I would just do whatever he says, ... sounds good. Hes not pushing laser. TCA cross on some of the smaller spots, and peels for texture. Remember when we give advice it's for some people who do this stuff at home. As such it's fine he's doing cross as hes more advanced than a DIY application. Good luck with your procedure, let us know how it goes.
Fillers can really rack up in terms of price as they come in 1 ml syringes (some are 1.2ml) but it seems you may need a lot. Also, the scars are quite superficial and not that deep - maybe a skin booster type of filler but that would be the icing on the cake once results are through.
Fms dermapen/dermaroller (microneedling) would be good plus you can have some DIY ones that you can take home (the needles are smaller than the ones a medical professional would use) . Careful what you spend your money on
