Do acne scars become harder to get rid of (with treatment) if left untreated over time?

Also, if left untreated, do they tend to get better, worse or stay the same? Obviously I know everybodys different but in general. FYI, I had severe acne and got it cleared up thankfully but im left with a moderate amount of scarring, not a ton, not too bad , but bad enough to make me want to possibly seek out treatment.

Also if any been can clue me in on the basics I need to know about laser treatment for acne scarring that would be great as well, or of any other method that is better or might work. Thank you.

Yes acne scars get worse with age, fresh scars are easier to remodel. But this is also a catch 22 in that most derms will tell you to wait until they heal or you will be on accutane and you cannot treat. Ematrix is great for fresh acne scars.

It also depends on the type of scars. If I had a fresh scar I would use silicone during the healing period and try retin a after that when they have healed.

Checkout "Skins: reds" PIE and PIH this all relates to that topic located in the below FAQ.
