Hi All,
I used to have terrible acne on my chest and back.... huge cystic pimples.... after taking 'Accutane' I was left with white tiny bumps known as
Follicular Macular Atrophy. I visited my dermatologist and he basically told me that there is nothing I can do to eliminate these guys... he suggested laser treatment but that was not a 100% guarantee that it will remove it completely.... major let down.
I came across this new trend... DERMAROLLING. I am tempted to buy the Banish Kit.... it has great reviews and is known for removing scar tissue.
Has anyone ever tried this on this type of scarring???

Any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have suffered from acne all my life, I know how frustrating it is and hopefully if this post gets an answer that would aid in treating this type of scarring it will help others whom may come across this thread.
Thank you!
I have not tried the dermarolling, but I have had microneedling done on my face and it helped some indented scars. I do not know if it would help with the follicular macular atrophy type. I was actually thinking about trying this. Honestly, I would not try it myself, you should go to a professional. I know it isn't cheap, but micronenedling is much cheaper than laser. A professional knows how deep to go and how many passes you will need. They numb my face...needles go quite deep, you don't want to go too deep or not deep enough. I'm sure they would numb your back too, much more comfortable. Just to warn you, for two days you can feel very uncomfortable, I sleep under a ceiling fan because my skin feels so hot after.
I did want to mention that I also have this type of scarring and have found the Rosehip Seed Oil works somewhat. I'm in my third month and am starting to notice that the white scarring is blending in with skin in a couple places. I have thousands of these scars, so I'd love nothing more than to get rid of them. I had a big white scar on my chest from a large pimple, it is changing shape and getting smaller. I can't promise that it will completely eliminate it, but I'm going to keep trying. I have not used RetinA on follicular scars (too expensive to do whole back and chest, but might eventually do it), but hear over time that can also help.
Rosehip Seed Oil got rid of some trapped sebum too, some of those scars might have hardened sebum so this may soften things. This is the most pure and cheapest that I found: https://www.amazon.com/InstaNatural-Organic-Rosehip-Seed-Oil/dp/B00IP42FBA
I noticed I have less new ones appearing (they appear out of nowhere, that's why I don't know if they are necessarily always caused by cysts) since I stopped taking hotshowers and moisturize a lot (hemp seed oil). Not sure of correlation, but hey I'll keep doing that. Gentle exfoliation too 🙂 right before your shower.
I think these have something to do with folliculitis (check spelling?). My derm gave me a weird look, but it's a theory I have. I will be trying a bodywash withsodium hypochlorite in it. I also suffer fromeczema, so this can't hurt since it can be a treatment for that condition as well.
It can take awhile, but they do improve over time. It may not be perfect, but there could be worse things. If you're really in a hurry, they can always do skin colored tattooing for cosmetic purposes.
Remember, this could take manymonthsof microneedling, oil, and anything else, so patience is key.
