Hello everyone!
im new this this forum, and I'm sorry if I've posted in the wrong thread, however I do have some questions concerning my acne spots.

i'm a female bodybuilder and I drink a lot of protein shakes, which makes me believe that it's the main reason why my acne is worsening. I can't just stop drinking that stuff, I know that I can switch to food with lots of proteins, but it we'll never be the same without my supplements. I've been using clean and clear acne spot treatmemt, and it helps get rid of the pimples overnight however I'm stuck with red marks all over my cheeks and my chin. I have no acne on my forehead whatsoever. I will attach a few
photos down below with how they look like.
going to a dermatologist is my last option at the moment. I'm a college student and simply can't afford paying hundreds of dollars on things. What are some useful home remedies to get rid of red marks?

I'd see a dermatologist if you can, and anything they prescribe is covered under most health insurance. They may recommend a course of antibiotics or spironolactone if they think it's hormonal. But if you don't have health insurance, then the Acne.Org Regimen is a great way to clear acne and prevent new acne from forming, even hormonal. Yours isn't too bad and would probably clear up beautifully.

Sorry but home remedies will probably not do a whole lot. They might work OK for very mild acne, but they don't kill acne bacteria and they don't prevent future breakouts. You could try stopping the protein shakes, see if that helps, since you already think this may be aggravating it. You can also try adding 30 mgs of zinc gluconate to your diet. Zinc is a known anti-inflammatory with a lot of research backing its use for calming acne, and this form is has more bioavailability than other forms. Omega 3 fish oil is another anti-inflammatory commonly recommended with a proven track record for calming acne.

As far as red marks...try some 10% glycolic acid (AHA). Red marks do fade on their own even if you do nothing, but this helps speed up the process. Dan's AHA+ is great! My son uses it and it's helped fade a lot of his red marks!

Hope this is helpful! :)

If you have health insurance a dermatologist visit isnt expensive at all. I have tried everything to fade red marks, and glycolic acid is definitely the most efficient effective method there is.

Spend a month cutting out processed food, protein shakes, gluten, dairy and sugar. Honestly try eating wild salmon, free range chicken, steamed vegetables and berries. Be very disciplined with your diet. If that doesn't work, see a dermatologist.

1. You really need to see a dermatologist - your acne seems ready to cause some scarring.
2. Whey protein has been associated with worse acne. You may replace it with egg whites, lean white meats, nuts, fish.
3. While you are arranging to see a dermatologist, start using non-prescription regimen such as Acne.org.
Non-prescription regimens can be used in addition to those prescribed by your doctor, but first get your doctor's approval.
4. Some people found Afrin spray smeared 3-4 times a week helpful in reducing redness (Afrin is nasal decongestant and shrinks blood vessels where applied and hence reduces redness)
5. follow dietary modifications as
suggestedabove by DeLovelyand Dan34
6. All the best and keep us posted with your progress!
