Hi peeps! So I will be making a phone call soon to another Dr's office in the Boston MA area. The clinic that I got my previous consult from a month or so ago wanted me to do Fraxel Laser treatments (up to 6 of them!) to the tune of $1000 each! Who did they think they were tying to kid??? I am vain, but not that vain and desperate - especially as I have gotten older! Wisely I had read this forum for several months before going to that first consult and I did not bite on that offer!
Today when I call this other office, I will be explicit up front that the only t way they are going to get any business from me is if they do techniques that may actually work for my scarring!!! i.e. subcision, dermastamping, fillers such as Bellafill or silicone beads, etc. If they start to steer me towards lasers, then I won't give in!!!! Lasers are the biggest scam there is!!!
lasers arent a scam
they are excellent for resurfacing , skin complexionsand evenfor scars, but not the best procedure for scars.
i dont understand, the fault isnt in the lasers srsly
if a doctor claims to you that lasers will vanish your scars away forever the fault isnt in the lasers
because those who go for a subcision arent foolish as the people that first go for lasers because thesedont understand nothing about acne scarring
and its not their fault too, the fault is in the bad intentions behind the doctors.
ppl who know and who went in this forum to understand better how acne scars work and what procedures are the best are the ppl who will achieve the best results
ps: i already did a full face co2 my scars didnt disappeared and i wasnt expecting that but the result was very good and they improved.
If lasers were $50 a session it's likely everyone in this forum would have given it a (multiple) shot/s. However since they cost $1000+ a session one may view them as a scam given their (subjectively) terrible cost effectiveness. But one might want to keep in mind that being a newer technology it will of course be more expensive. These early adopters willing to pay $1000 a session may lead to further refinement and an almost guaranteed reduction in cost in the future. So while lasers at the moment are not the most cost effective way to treat scars, they certainly are not a scam and may eventually lead to more patient/wallet friendly ways of treating scarring in the future.(imo)
