In the end, we can all agree that Acne sucks. To actually finally find a cure, there needs to be a big group of people that band together and compile things that may seem like it would work against Acne. This Forum I believe should be used more for experiences and if u tried that product a couple time or if u recently got good results from a laser treatment, then feel free to share. Just don't go all Scientific or quoting Scientists on theories because that all it is, theories. We all learn from trial and error but until you are more than sure that this kind of work then spread the love as they say lol. I will share my story in a couple days. I would trade all the money I have just to know what it feels like to have flawless skin
I don't think you fully understand what science and theories is!
Maybe we should try your idea on other diseases like, lets says cancer.
So it will be something like this:

That is probably the most stupid thing I have ever heard.
But good luck fixing diseases like that

I want to clear up some confusion here. There is a big difference between the everyday use of the word "theory" and how the word "theory" is used in science.
In everyday language, we often speak of the word "theory" as if something vague is pointing toward it, but it is not quite clear what its status is. In everyday language, it has a negative connotation, and is more like a mere speculation.
Now in science, speaking of something being a "theory" is as high as you can get it. It means it is being backed up by evidence, that the predictions of that theory are reproducable and that there is a consensus regarding the truth of that theory.
When you are saying that science is "just theories" you are confusing the two. And if a scientific theory is not enough for you, than I realy don't know what, if anything, will ever convince you.
Maybe I should reword what i meant even though you guys knew I was trying to say. Coming off as a ignorant douchebag will not solve anything. That is the reason why there was even a need for Science Revolution in the 16 and 17th century. Too many messing with natural selection.I know all about the Scientific Method. I don't classify common sense or obvious conclusion but good judgements and practical knowledge. I will repeat myself so Wolfstone can comprehend. I am no genius or scholar but someone who's fed with the "system" and wants to impact a change one step at a time. I have seen deaths, misery, despair, terror, I seen it all.All I want is for there to be a cure for Acne, even if i have to discover it myself then so be it. Like I said before, I don't want to start a argument here but if it comes to that then lets start.

There are a lot of psuedoscientists on this forum who misread journals (just look at Esney's posts).
You know you areallowed to read the journals yourself right?
Ever since I started using this website about two years ago its been absolutely overflowing with misinformation, unfortunately back then I didnt recognize it and I tried a lot of dumb shit. The ones that bug me most;
1) Red marks are hyperpigmentation. No they are not, red marks are erythema. No amount of chemical peels will get rid of them. And in my personal experience, are likely to make them worse.
2) Lasers dont work. Actually, they do. My scars were wayyyyyy worse than most on this sub. They are so, so much better now. Probably undetectable to most unless in really bad lighting, so they dont really bother me anymore. Cost me about 7k in total, definitely worth it though.
3) Accutane is super scary. Not really, its nothing in comparison to having severe acne. If you notice your acne is starting to scar, its probably time for accutane.
4) Putting honey, or some other shit on your face will cure your acne. It wont.
Im very lucky in that I had a good doctor that was able to correct the majority of my scarring, and that I dont get acne anymore. I just come back here every once in a while to hopefully help one or two people because acne affected me very deeply, and it makes me sad to see it affecting others in the same way. It also frustrates me to see all the terrible misinformation that people spread around here. I honestly think this site should be looked at as more of a support group than a reliable source of info.
Hey @420blazeit, can I ask who your doctor was? Would you recommend? Thanks!
Wow, really, you know the cure? You should definitely start spreading the word. I bet lots of people haven't yet tried this. I'm sure you're the only one that knows how to google up some studies on acne.
Also, you should go to PCOS andEndo forums to tell everyone that if they take out saturated fats they will be cured (most have already taken out simple carbs, dairy, and omega 6 vegetable oils). Saturated fats, that ourancestors have eaten for centuries without problems that could possible be vital toour health.
I wonder what someone who is allergic to fish should do though, perhaps hope that he/she won't dieof malnutrition while living on spinach?
I wish you luck in your endeavors.
I do not know if you've ever had PCOS in your life? I knowanumber of women who have spent years trying to get rid of it, with acne, not being able to conceive and with all thosesecondary disease. So when somebody brings well documented evidence of how to cure PCOSdoyou not think we should listen instead ofmaking claims without some reference to anything? I myself have been on a keto diet, and although it helped my PCOS was only cured when I switched saturated fat with unsaturated. And there are plenty of PCOS blogs and referrals allover the Internet to saturated fat is bad for women with PCOS. And if you can't eat fish, then eat something else there is plenty of foods to choose from.
Here is a site called 'Nutrition Therapy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)'from the McKinley Health Center under University of Illinois
Take a look at point five
- Decreased fat intake, particularly saturated fat.
I have endo. And, in my case this is not correct. I don'tknow about PCOS though... I'm just curious what you eat? I mean if you go on a Paleo diet it will be hard to keep away from saturated fats.
I try to live on a lowphytic acid vegetarian diet (but I include broths), but I do eat grass fed raw butter and coconut oil.I have never hear that this is somehow dangerous.. Well I personally haven't noticed any difference other than positive.
I don't ignore information, but I honestly do not believe saturated fats caused my acne.
I have PCOS and have to say reducing saturated fat did improve my acne a little, but nothing really relevant (and, to be honest, I really think it was a coincidence). My diet is pretty much restricted (I only eat whole foods and low carb, no sugar, dairy, saturated fat, gluten or lactose), I exercise, I drink lots of water, I'm not overweight... and I still get a lot of cysts on my face. So, clearly, my acne is not related to my diet.
I also already tried every supplement that people say it might help, but it didn't work. The point is PCOS is not as simple to cure naturally as people and those blogs say. It doesn't matter what supplements I would take and the diets I would make, my skin won't get completely clear until I balance my hormones andthe only two things that helped so far was spironolactone and birth control.
Fwiw, I kept a super strict diet for almost 8 months and I thoroughly regret wasting so much time on this nonsense. Yeah, it might help some people, but I'm convinced it doesn't cure moderate/severe acne, because that's what most people want, not some temporary improvement.
For 8 months I haven't had sugar, dairy, chips, fast-food, oceanic fish, high glycemic index food (none, 0), corn, eggs, bananas, grapes, nuts, almonds, soda, sweets, pasta, pizza, potatoes, white rice, foods rich in iodine etc., nothing, 0. Not a single cheat day, not a single bite or sip of what I wrote and it didn't do much, I was pretty clear for a few months on the diet (while I was taking antibiotics as well) and then the breakouts started getting worse and worse. I was also drinking 4L of water a day and exercising 5 days a week. Didn't tan either and I was using SPF 30 whenever I was going out.
I totally feel you. It's tiring, isn't it? This silly diet thing that many claim to be working. I tried it for a couple of weeks (no dairy, no sugar, more vegetables, more fruits, a reservoir of water every day) and it hardly improved my condition. If anything, it actually got worse! I'm beginning to refresh my memory now that I used to eat like anyone else (junk food, fried food, you name it) and my skin has had its good days. Yes, it actually had its good days! Phuck this diet thing. I'm going back to sugary stuff, milk glorious milk, pastries, coffee and everything else till kingdom come.
Bahaha! Your post made me laugh lol
Anywho... it's always best to eat in moderation! But I totally get what you mean!
Scars suck period.
I have what I think is severe scarring. I feel disfigured.
But any scar sucks!! Yes, we with more severe scarring wish we were in the persons shoes with less severe scarring. I probably think it all the time, what are you even complaining about? I wish I had your scars. But guess what? I bet you'd rather be in clear skin shoes any day!!!!!
Just remember, it can always be worse.
It's all about perspective.
Again, scars suck.
First things first, people need to quit quoting posts that are a mile long. 2nd this is not a forum about curing acne, there is another forum for that. This is a forum about scars and their treatment. I am of course an advocate of fractionalized ablative CO2 - basically Fraxel Repair. I have explained the regimen ad nauseum so I am not going to do it again. You either go all out or stay home. A half-hearted approach will leave you with disappointing results then you will become one of the people whining that it didn't work - it won't work if you don't do it right. I don't comment on other treatments because I am ignorant of their effectiveness.
Yes I agree, acne is not that big of a problem to this specific sub forum. According to the many scar pictures posted here, it seems like most of us have already found our own way to control most, if not all of our breakouts. When it comes to acne, everybody eventually finds a way to control it. There's way more acne success stories than acne scar success stories. I actually found my cure from following somebody else's cure. For scar success stories I can only think of Ernesto, DCgirl, MrMatt, and Robertitoo.

Do you know how to quote someone without also quoting the quotes that quoted? lol Cause I don't know how this forum works. It's so different from the ones I'm used to. :/

Everybody? Since when? Some people with extremely severe acne never find a way to cure/control it. They might find a way that works temporarily but then it stops working and you're stuck with acne again. You can't fix scarring if you still have acne that scars you plus permanently ruined skin/looks from years of acne/scarring.
Lucas I know you're still breaking out, I sawyour post on the emotional sub forum before. It sounds dumb but you have to literally try every method on the list to find your regimen or whatever. Took me around 3 years for me to finally find it, but I eventually found it. I was never allowed to take it, but have you ever took accutane? A few people I knowtold me once they took it they never saw a cyston their face again. I think that should be one of the first things to consider.
sorry for talking about acne on when I said acne shouldn't be discussed here. I take back what I said.

I think there is a way, I just never figured it out. I would normally have just replied by leading with your handle, but as a joke I quoted you. It is so annoying to see a post of somebody who has qouted another quote and another quote.

It's really hard to use the quote thing in this forum. If it was easy, I think people wouldn't be doing quoting like this tbh lol
I know from experience that some scars won't show up on camera. So, what you are seeing on the screen isn't the same as what these people have to live with in real life. My skin looks flawless on camera so I would be one of those people you THINK is overreacting.
Because we are human not robots, we will all react differently to the same thing. So, Joe Blow will have a near heart attack over a small scar while someone else wouldn't even think twice about it.
If I had scars on my cheeks or forehead, it wouldn't be a huge deal for me.Seriously. But mine are in my smile line (so it looks like a big wrinkle)so I feel like they make me look old so hell yeah I freak out and I focus on every single new scar in that area no matter how small.
I totally agree with you about people making recommendations about things they have never tried. I TRY to stay away from that and if I do recommend something I make sure to let the person know I've never tried it or that I am new to it and still learning, etc.
Definitely.... bad advice and melodramatics have always been a part of this forum, but I think the conversation overall was of a higher quality before. Personally, I think the moderators made a huge mistake by lumping the red marks forum with the scar forum. It just turned up the noise and brought the overall quality down because those people posting about red marks are not knowledgeable at all about scars.
Ignorance is one thing, but so many aggressively uninformed people on here talk as if they're an authority on the matter. If you have not tried a procedure, don't try to pass off your fourth hand info like gospel.
