Hello everyone,
two days ago I've had subcision + filler on my acne scars (most of them rolling, on my cheeks).
The dermatologist said he uses the filler (quite expensive) to reduce scars reattaching.
In 3-4 weeks I will have subcision again + rest of the filler (not the whole ampoule was used and he gave it to me). In addiction he will also use the DermaPen, which he says he prefers to dermarolling.
I would like to know if there is anything I can do to help collagen synthesis and avoid the scars to reattach.
Is suction useless in my case since the filler was used?
Couldn't the DermaPen be used a bit earlier than 4 weeks?
Some of my scars are also red, even though they are 10 years old. What can I do to make them of the same color of my skin? Is peeling with TCA useful?
Thanks a lot for the forum! It is really helpful.
Now I'm wondering whether the doctor really executed subcision or simply injected the filler. I say so because after two days my skin is in very good condition even though I had one big rolling scar and during the procedure it didn't seem to me the doctor was doing the typical movements needed to release the scar as seen in many youtube videos. During the procedure I asked him if he was only injecting the filler and he said he was making subcision and injecting the filler at the same time. The procedure took about 20-25 minutes for my two cheeks and he didn't use any anesthetic(I felt quite a bit of pain). Do you think that's possible?
If it wasn't really subcision, how long before I can have a proper subcision from an other doctor? Do I need to wait the filler to get absorbed first?
Hope you can help me guys.
Depends on your scarring. Does your face look like this? It is possible that he performed subcision using the needle of the filler. But from what I've seen, subcision executed correctly causes both significant swelling and bruising (perfect period to start suctioning)
What filler did he use? Dermapen can be used whenever, but I suggest it be done right after subcision...
I'm not too sure if suctioning would be recommended if filler was performed... The question I get out of that if it can tamper or move the filler around?
Do you have pics of your scarring?
Thanks for your answer Robertitoo. By the way, I've read your thread, congrats for your improvements.
My face doesn't look like your photo: no yellow at all, just some red spots and some lumps (perhaps due to the filler?).
I'm pretty sure he used the needle of the filler to perform the subcision. He then changed the needle with a new one because he said the previous was worn out.
He used LG Yvoire Classic S. He said that if I want he can use DermaPen next month (when he gets in town again, since my town is not where he usually practices). I said I thought a month was too much to wait to start needling, he said not at all....
I will post some pics tomorrow.
I've most likely wasted money but how much do I have to wait to get a proper subcision with an other doctor? 6-8 months (until the filler gets absorbed)?
(I will follow your "protocol 2", that paper was really interesting with promising results).
What can I do meanwhile? TCA peeling + VBeam to remove red marks?
What do you mean when you say he gave it to you? Did he give you the actual syringe? Is the second subcision going to be done on untreated scars or the same scars? I would think that another subcision in an area just recently injected would shift and displace the filler already injected.

Yes, he gave me the syringe. It's in my fridge now.
The second subcision should be done on some small untreaded scars I still have.
BTW can microneedling (he says he use the DermaPen) be done when there is the filler? Won't the filler get out?
Really? Sorry if you already explained, but I'm assuming you are in Europe? That filler is not approved here in the US, so I was curious. That's the first time I've ever heard about a doctor just giving the patient the syringe to take home.
I don't think the filler can seep out. It might be possible that the needles and pressure may shift the filler out of place.
Vbeam is the best way to quickly get rid of red marks.
