What's Wrong With My Skin?

Hi all. So after some time of surfing on this forum, I finally decided to join it because I couldn't find a solution to my problem. Here's a brief history about my acne progression.

It all started around age 16. At first my acne was very mild, then when I turned 17, it reached the most severe level. I didn't do much about it, because I didn't want to spend money on anything and I was just skeptic overall. Although when I was 17, I've visited cosmetologist numerous times because the cosmetologist was my mothers friend. She was performing I'm not sure how is it called in English but she would clean my face and just pop and squeze all pimples, blackheads\whiteheads. After that, she would apply some anti-septic or something like that to disinfect the skin, couple more creams and that's it. The procedure didn't do much, I think it did more harm than good to be honest.

Anyway, since I've turned 18, my face skin had many fluctuations. Sometimes it would get worse before it would get better and vice-versa. Right now I'm 21. My acne is almost gone. But..it left a mark. Something that I consider as much bad as acne I had previously.

I will upload couple pics so you can see what I'm dealing with.

Keep in mind, when I took these pics, my face skin was quite calm at this time. Usually, it looks worse, especially if I make any contact with it, wash it, even with plain water, it will get red and dry after that. Anyway, you can see from the pics that my skin is really unappealing and just disgusting. The skin looks rough, inflamed and doesn't look healthy. I'm not good looking guy anyways but this just kills my self-esteem when it comes to girls. I'm starting to hate myself. If any of you have or had something similar to this and you found something that works, please share. Or maybe some of you can recommend a very effective treatment related to my condition that I maybe don't know about?

Thanks in advance

Your skin looks dry hence the flaking. What are you using to wash your face? Look into washing with a mild cleanser and a using gentle moisturizer after. You can also exfoliate a couple times times a week to rid of the flaking. I think your skin looks inflamed from irritation.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my skin is a little bit dry and looks really dull. The most problematic area is cheeks and a little bit of jaw area. Right now my skin regimen looks like this: In the morning, I wash my face with anna lotan facial foaming gel with warm water. The cleanser is really mild. After that, I rinse my face with a little bit colder water. Then I take an ice cube and rub my whole face with it. After that, I take a cotton pad, put 2% salycilic acid and gently rub my face with it. I only use salycilic acid 1-2 times a week. And sometimes after salycilic acid I would apply small amounts of benzoyl peroxide if I have a breakout but like I said it almost doesn't happen anymore. And one more thing. The 2% salycilic acid that I use is in alcohol solution. Of course it leaves my skin really dry afterwards. Maybe I should stop using it? I don't use any moisturizer at the time. I really don't know how to help my skin more. I'm rally skeptic about all these fancy skin-care products with astronomical prices. What treatment, medication do you think I would benefit the most from? What would be the most cost-effective treatment for me?

Also, I'm not sure what is exact problem with my skin. Is my skin damaged or what? Or is there an inflammation? What if the dead skin layers would be removed? If the skin is inflammed, it wouldn't help? So I guess treatments like chemical, TCA or any other peel wouldn't benefit me, no? Or should I give it a shot?
