I used the PMD microdermabrasion machine on my skin the other day and it tore it up. It lifted up too much skin (I may have accidentally lingered in that spot for too long?!) so now it's red and scarred (indented). The red area is where the skin was lifted. The skin in that area is also damaged. It looks crepey...the way burnt skin looks. I ordered glycolic acid (30%) and TCA peel (12.5%) from MUAC and I'm wondering if it will help with the redness and softening up the scarred area. I plan on using the glycolic acid once for 2 weeks to get my skin ready for the TCA (I have had several sensi peels in the past). Since I just damaged it (a few days ago) I am going to wait about a week to make sure it's healed before applying the acid. Will it help? I know they don't help get rid of indented scars but I'd like that area smooth instead of looking red and wrinkly.
Photo doesn't really show how bad it really is. You can't see how crepey it looks.
I should add that I had a line scar in that area-up where it looks like a wrinkle. it's actually a scar (2 scars that created the line) and then down lower where it's red is where the other line scar was but now it's just a hole in both areas and deeper. ((
Thank You for your responses. It scabbed immediately after I damaged it. Scab fell off like 2 days later, had the crepey look until last night and now it feels rough...almost like it might scab again. I'm keeping it moist with coconut oil. I hope that helps keep it from scarring.
Update for those interested in the PMD: My skin is healing nicely and the hole filled in (the areas scabbed twice and when scab fell off second time, the skin filled in) Crepey look is gone and now it's flaking a little bit and feels a bit rough. Posted both photos so that you can see the difference. If you are using the PMD, be careful, don't linger too long and don't go over area more than twice. I think I may have left it on the spot for a second or 2, too long. I'm usually very careful but I guess not this time.
Good to hear.
Actually I don't think what you saw was an actual indentation. What I really think happened was that the suction made the skin inflamed and it became swollen around the area where you lingered too long. Basically the skin surrounding the target area was puffy, so of course the area in the middle would look indented. The red, inflamed skin probably also made it look more indented than it actually was because it looks like it is in shadow.
