Hi all,
This forum has been like a bible for me in the past years, so it's only fair for me to show my progress now. I had subcision done on three rolling scars on 7 June, 2015 and I have been keeping progress ever since. I have been using a small bottle to create suction as I have read so many people having amazing results using the subcision-suction method. I am not sure if the suction is as strong as those pumps they sell, but it definitely can't hurt to try.
This before shot shows two of the three rolling scars I had subcision on. One of them falls in the smile lines on my cheek, so I pretend like it looks like a dimple to others. Needles to say: they need to go.

They applied numbing cream on my face and let it sit for a bit, as I dozed off to the soothing sounds of the CD of breaking waves and jungle sounds.
The whole experience was pretty nice. The doctor had warned me that, despite the numbing cream, I'd still be able to feel some discomfort. And she wasn't wrong. It felt like tiny pinches, maybe even like the first time using an Epilady. But I was happy to hear that snapping sound from the doctor cutting lose that tethered scar of mine.
Why the experience was "nice", you say? As this was all going down on my face, I was getting a full leg massage from her assistant. A bizarre, but a welcome surprise.
Immediately post subcision: you can see small band aids where she entered the skin. The scar was a little elevated and slightly blue already.
Day 3:As recommended, I started suctioning on day 3. Directly post-suctioning:
Day 4: This was today. I can say: it looks as though the swelling is going down, and my dimple scar seems to be coming back. I know I have to be patient. It can take months for it to fill in. I am just going to keep on doing the suctioning at least once a day.
Keep you posted!
Looks like he did a good job. Suction as much as possible. Good luck
Thanks, Roberittoo. Your progress has been a true inspiration and motivation!
One week post, and I am pretty happy with the result so far. Two of the three areas treated have pretty much flattened out completely. The "dimple" scar still seems a little tethered, or at least somewhat depressed. I have been suctioning at least twice a day, in the morning and before bed. It is still slightly blue, and proves hard to camouflage, but so far, it has all been well worth it. I am excited to see how it fills in the next couple of months. I hope the scars do not sink in too much!
I'll let you guys know how it goes )
I have a scar like that! it looks like a dimple but its not! Please update your progress. I'm curious t see if it worked on tat scar. If you dont mind sharing, how much did it cost?
Sorry, didn't see this until now! I just took a few photo's in horrible light to show you what it looks like now.
I go back and forth about the results. I sometimes am super happy I did it, sometimes I'm not even sure it did anything. I have a bad case of rosacea, so don't mind the blochiness in the photos. You can see the bottom one (the "dimple") has some discoloration still. I'm hoping that once that fades, it will look less deep.
I had the procedure done in Thailand when I was on holiday there. A doctor here refused to treat me because he thought I was making a big deal over nothing, and we already had this trip planned, so I did my research and found a practice with amazing reviews. Was really happy with how it all went down (paid around $40 for the three, and really, I don't understand why it should cost HUNDREDS of dollars here. It's just a needle.). I knew from the start that the scars weren't going to flatten it out completely and I'd probably need to do it over a couple more times, but a girl can hope, can't she!
I must add: up until a couple weeks ago, I was really happy with the results. It wasnt until the past few weeks that I started noticing them more. And I realized that I just started using retin-a again. It could be that my skin is lightening, making the discoloration of my scar more visible. Just a thought!
what's up with the lower right scar in the last photo? (probably the one with makeup as you've said). it looked a little raised to me. Is it from the swelling?
Yes! It was swollen for a while after the procedure. I'm guessing from the blood build-up under the skin. Plus, I have been keeping the swelling alive by using suctioning on the areas. The idea behind it is that it would increase the collagen build up. That's probably the bumps you see!
