I'm going to book a consultation for treatment for the scar on my nose (attached). One clinic offers CO2 laser, and the other offers CO2 or excision, however the consultation for the second clinic is expensive.

Which treatment would be better?

Excision first, and possibly followed by laser resurfacing to blend the scar edges to the surrounding skin. You might get lucky and heal really well and end up not needing a resurfacing procedure.

I can't comment on the efficacy of excision, but I don't believe Laser is your best option for that one individual scar. You mention clinic, are you speaking of a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist. I would seek the advice of a plastic surgeon. Remember the doctor will only proclaim the cure as being something that he has in his own office.

He is a dermatologist, not sure if he specialises in plastic surgery. Here is his website. What do you think of his case studies re: co2 laser. The nose scar is similar to mine (case study 3). Does it look legit?

He has some good pictures posted. I especially like Case Study 3 with the change in coloration of the scar. Perhaps he can spot treat you with ablative CO2.

Hi guys,

I am having scar revision on this scar tomorrow. Co2 was an option but it would only have smoothed the edges of the scar, so excision was the right option.
