I feel there are such mixed reviews from doctors. Doctor Lim and a few other doctors are very confident in this treatment. Other doctors on Real Self say it doesn't work well or at all.
One doctor said its impossible to not get the acid all over in the pit and this results in deeper and wider pits than before.
I was excited when reading about this treatment but am now feeling it might not be worth the risk. I have many pitted acne scars that I want to treat. I would go to professional most likely as I just don't feel confident enough to do it myself.
So anyone had this done? Thanks a bunch!
Thanks robertitoo! Interesting stuff wish there were more pictures though around the internet. Have you had any experience with this? Boy I wish I could find some people who have done this! The dr near me apparently does this but the receptionist said they haven't seen much improvement with it. That leaves me less confident in this dr doing that procedure. He is at a laser clinic though so probably doesn't do it much!
I believe it depends on your skin type. Thicker skin tends to respond better, from what I've read. Ice pick scarring around my brow where the skin is thicker responded well and almost disappeared after three treatments. My cheeks and forehead did not have stellar results.
Thats a bummer:( They did have some results but not great then? THanks for letting us know!

Well, every skin type is different. I have thin skin. I've read reviews on this board of people reducing or eliminating their ice pick scarring with TCA cross. Ice Pick scarring is very difficult to treat, and TCA cross is one of the more effective and cheaper methods of treating it.
Now that we or I know what your scars looks like I can give you an idea of what I, personally would do if I were in you
Vbeam Perfecta 3-4 times
get acne under control?
then
I would personally just go at it with Microneedling and chemical peels, 15%-30%tca for at least a year or two, that's it.

After 1-2 years, if you're still unhappy with the results.. I would reccomend you get the rolling and boxcar undermined (subcision) and follow the suction protocol.

Ok thank you thank you thank you!!
I'm nervous about doing all this myself though. What kind of needling do I do? Do you think getting the micropen done once so I have an idea what I should be doing is a good idea? I just don't know a think about length and where do you buy these things?
Why not start with subcision? I saw that NomNomWaffles did this first...Do you think I wouldn't work well for mine or are you suggesting the cheapest route? Just curious:)
The link you sent me gives me hope! Dang I wish we didn't have to wait so long to get results...
Again thanks for you help. You certainly have some experience with this stuff!

You could definitely do that and just copy what I'm doing (subcision and all). As for the needling, just purchased a automated pen, such as the Derminator and go at it yourself. It's pretty straight forward. You can youtube this. For my next needling sessions in about a month, I will record part of my face as I needle my skin, just to give people an idea. But again, youtube has tons of videos.

I see that you mentioned Dr. Lim from Australia (who apparently posts on this forum). I've seen a few similar cases on his website, and for this type of scarring TCA Cross could work. It seems really simple, but you might want to go to an expert for this. There's an unpredictability factor with TCA Cross because it can makes scars wider / deeper if not done correctly.
