I'm an 18 year old male that's been struggling with acne for about 3-4 years, I've tried benzoyl peroxide for about a year and a half and it worked OK, it helped some but I still had breakouts. I recently started epiduo I'm about 2 weeks in on that. I also have retin-A cream that I don't use, should I start?

I just want to know more about fighting acne... I normally buy Saliyc acid acne face wash such as neutrogena or biore. I use them once a day and then wash my face with soap once a day. I then apply the epiduo a few minutes after I wash my face. I feel like most of my acne isn't even active pimples... Just a bunch of disgusting red bumps and marks and the occasional white head.

Someone please read this whole post and tell me what you think I'm doing wrong. I have to be doin something wrong no one in my family has acne like I do. Any advice appreciated, but don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about.

PLEASE READ IT ALL!! THANK YOU!!

PS: my acne is really all over my face, but I'm really just concerned about my constant breakouts I've had for year around my mouth, and some on my cheeks.

EDIT: the picture doesn't look near as bad as it is. When I ger out into the sunlight and look into a car mirror it is disgusting red marks all over my face.

If epiduo is your primary acne fighter, it is extremely important to only use non medicated cleansers and moisturizers. Cetaphil and Cerave are the standard as well as Neutrogenia. Do not incorporate salicylic acid or other BP products without consulting your derm as it will only irritate your skin. Also do not use Epiduo alongside a retinoids such as retin-a. Choose one or the other. Keep in mind that results may not be seen until 3-6 months so give it time and expect that acne will worsen. Also, for many people, diet and lifestyle affect thing so it may be worth looking into a paleo, gluten and or dairy free lifestyle.

Good Luck

Thanks for tips. I will stop using the face wash I'm using and switch to non-medicated face wash. My diet is fine, I drink plenty of water and know how to eat properly. I still go to school so 5 days of the week I'm asleep by probably 11:30, and up by 7. On weekends I'll stay up to maybe 1-2am, and wake up around probably 10am. I'm going to continue using epiduo and hope it works...

I forgot to mention I also have a "Clean and clear" exfoliating facewash that I wash my face with probably twice a week or so
