As of last summer I began having really oily skin and mild to moderate cystic acne with no logical explanation why this started. My case has baffled four separate dermatologists and I've done everything in the book to try and pinpoint the cause. Nonetheless, I've concluded its something in my immediate environment thats causing this, as while on vacation visiting my parents out of state my skin was much less oily and I hardly broke out, even though I deviated from my anti-acne diet. I'm done with college in May, and am leaving the hot and humid South for the fresh air of the Pacific Northwest. With a regular job I know I'll have health insurance and I should have disposable income. So, would anybody here have any suggestions what treatment method would best work for the scars/hyper-pigmentation in the pictures below? Btw, I'm half-Filipino and half-Caucasian, and typically have a tendency to scar easily. And most of the marks below are level with the skin or slightly depressed, and some of the hyper-pigmentation has been there since last September.
you have a lot of hyperpigmentation..some active for sure...if you have money look into the PDL treatments, they help with redness but again cost $....if no money then get some AHA (like the one from acne.org) and work that in every day
have you taken a course of accutane? nightmare for me, but for most it's a miracle
My out of state insurance and the weird rules surrounding Accutane have thwarted my attempts to get on it. At this point I'm not really concerned though, as I'm leaving the environment thats causing my cystic acne in less than three months. Does PDL treatment work well for darker skin and whats the recovery time after each session? Also, how many sessions does it normally take?
