Hi Guys,
I am thinking of doing subcision for my acne scars. However, after doing much research, I seem to be unable to come to a conclusion on whether subcision can be done on shallow acne scars. I think I have very shallow rolling scars on my cheek and it would be great if subcision can improve them to a great degree. Actually, I have already done 2 sessions of mosaic laser but to almost no results at all. Some people online have raised concerns about the effectiveness of subcision on shallow scars while others seem to believe that it can be used safely and effectively.
Hence, I would be deeply grateful if someone can clarify my concerns:
1) Firstly, can subcision be done on very shallow acne scars? Many people have told me that my scars are not serious but I find that they are in fact a lot worse than i want them to be.
2) How long is the downtime for subcision?
3) Is there a high chance of complications arising from the treatment? I understand that every procedure has its risks. However, I like to be sure that subcision is safe and will not make my scars worse.
These scars have affected my social life to a great degree, I can't seem to get these thoughts out of my head at all times. I find it extremely suffocating having to be constantly worrying about my scars and that other people would notice them. I really need to remove these scars to get on with my life. Im sure all of you would understand how i feel.
PLEASE ADVICE ME ON THE EFFECTIVENESS AND SUITABILITY ON SUBCISION FOR SHALLOW ROLLING SCARS
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!
check out MrMatt's posts here on this forum, he has had great luck with subscisions....like anything else though, you need to find a good doctor
if they are shallow have you tried dermarolling or dermastamping? check out the owndoc.com forum, and I personally have been doing my own stamping for a couple of years....takes a while but the progress is there
Do you have a picture?
I wouldn't try doing traditional subcision for shallow scarring, but you can look into chemical subcision aka saline injections. I think that's a safer route to go for scarring that isn't as deep. I'm getting this done myself starting this month or next. I'll post a log when the time comes.
The effects are supposed to be permanent for scars that are tethered down but if they aren't, about 1-2 years according to Dr Sire.
Do you know if saline injections have temporary or permanent benefits? I've done a bit of research on them, as I am considering them myself, but have not been able to establish whether the effects are temporary or permanent.
hello, for subcisions it all depends on the type of scarring and where it is located on the face.there is very little risk if any when done by an experienced plastic surgeon; provided u follow the aftercare instructions and take the antibiotic they prescribe you. As for saline injections, they are of temporary benefit for very superficial scarring..I did this every week myself from 2007 to 2010.very easy best to use a 29 gauge or 30 gauge short needle.when the saline is mettabolized by your skin in less than 24 hours t gg e stretching and smoothing of scar causes your skin to create collagen the next few days that lasts. Maybe up to afew weeks.u can repeat this as oftencas needed.alwasys use sterile syringes.i used insuline ones.also never inject on or right next to active lesions. I have done extremely well with silicone 1000 inections in micro droplets . permanent and very accurate and not too expensive.this can be injected in most areas of the face very safely good luck
