Hey guys so I've been an acne sufferer for some time now.. Im now 19 and as for acne itself I guess i can say its getting better but im being left with scsarring that looks like orange peel skin texture. I visited a dermatologist he told me i have blocked pores so he recommended i research microdermabrasion i so far had 1 session going for another one in the near future. However the ''skin specialist'' in the belair laser center highly recommeneds that i should try fraxel restore to see good results. Im thinking about getting the treatment but ive read on fourms that lasers damaged thier skin and im kind of scared of getting scammed for my money and being left with worse skin so im skepitcal about it. What do you guys think considering my scarring heres some pics.. thanks in advance

oh hell no i would not do any sort of laser for your skin. it looks really good to me. i wouldnt even think twice about it. microdermabrasian is good it will help clear up any leftover acne you have but really believe me when i say you have good skin. i cant believe anybody would recommend laser to you.

Just use a good primer and your scarred pores will be concealed

do not touch that skin with a laser. trust me.

if anything just leave it alone for the time being. Use an exfoliation glove follwed by some natural aloe vera ( lily of the desert is a good brand) and just let it rest

lasers do more harm then good to the skin.

Your scarring is really minimal. Don't risk doing anything even remotely harsh! My boyfriend has skin like that and before I knew anything about acne scars, I had never noticed a single thing about his skin. I didn't even know what the heck a scarred pore was until I joined this site. I bet no one notices them at all. Take a couple steps back from the mirror... your skin looks good!

I agree your skin looks pretty great.

Try the microdermabrasion if it makes you feel better but my experience with those treatments is that they are quite expensive for minimal results.

You may be better off simply using some glycolic acid either in a toner or a moisturizing cream which will unclog your pores, encourage cell turnover and fade any pink marks you are concerned about.

But again - you look good!

PLEASE do not waste your money on lasers. You do not need it at all, and if you did you would be sold on different laser treatments on up to the most ablative. I have done everything and my regret is wasting my money. For one thing you are looking way too close and too often in the mirror and finding what ever you can and making a mountain out of a molehill (actually not even a molehill). Your skin is beautiful. If you start buying in to these treatments you will ruin the integrity of your skin. You may even end up with discoloration (I am white and now I have small whiter dots and one quarter size whiter dot) on my face. You can do microdermabrasion but I have learned the hard way.... all that stuff is temporary, so just exfoliate with and aha or something but don't become a slave to perfection cus you are fine the way you are. And if you really wanna know what I now use after years of spending top dollar on cleansers, makeup , creams, lasers, IPLs, nose job, fillers, botox, (I'm telling u this cuz I have been around the BLOCK), and facials, and face shaving (I forget what its called LOL) ....... Niacinamide found in most Oil of Olay products... it actually helps plump skin up and creates a strong barrier to protect the skin. LOOK it up! And for cryin out loud stand back from mirror and don't get hypnotized or spend so much time concentrating on finding something you think looks abnormal. Much affection sweetie.

The greed of some people never ceases to amaze me. You luckily had the good sense to second guess their "professional" opinion. You have great skin.

Pore size is something that is genetically determined and no treatment will "shrink" them.

I'm surprised any professional would recommend laser for your skin. Your skin looks great, and you're so young. I would kill to have your smooth skin. I don't even see any true acne scars in your pictures either.

Looks like you have a little bit of active acne. I would focus on clearing it before you experience any real acne scarring.

Take it slow with microdermabrasion while you still have acne, and don't do a peel with active pustules on your face. Hopefully, the person doing the microdermabrasion is avoiding the areas with pustules. You want the spots to be completely healed before you treat the skin. If not, it could lead to scarring and even aggravate your acne. I did Glycolic and TCA peels at home years ago while I had active pustules, based on what I read on this forum. I ended up causing a lot of the small scars on my face with peels. I've done microdermabrasion in the past as well. My esthetician was always careful to avoid spots that showed any sign of active acne.

As others have said, take a couple steps back from the mirror. Enlarged pores are mainly hereditary and perfectly normal. No one is going to be so critical of your skin that they examine it up close and evaluate your pore size.

You will not have a clear picture until the redness goes away. Since you are young take the time to evaluate your scarring. Use that time to do your own research, and don't buy into all the naysayers about ablative lasers. Do ignore the non-ablative lasers.
