Will It Ever Go Away?

I guess I never really saw how bad it was until I took a really close picture of it. But I've battled with all kinds of acne since I was young (24 now) and have been to dermatologists on and off since then and nothing so far has worked. This past summer I broke out again out of nowhere and ended up with some nasty cysts, and one which left a scar under my left eye, kinda noticble in this picture, and very noticible in normal lighting. Bascially, I'm just curious if maybe accutane or something really heavy duty will maybe finnally help me clear this up, because it's getting fustrating, can't get a girl, have social problems, and am depressed as fuck because this stuff will not just go away! Also you'll notice that my entire face is completely different colored, with a lot of red, and purple scars.

Oh man, the more I look at it the more disheartned I get :-\

Hey,

First off, you should know I have no idea about scarring and what to do about it and stuff, I just thought I should let you know that honestly, it doesn't look that bad. I've seen way worse! Perhaps a lot of it is in your head. I know that's probably the case for me and so many others, we see something wrong with our faces and immediately think the worst. Your issues are probably more to do with your own self-esteem, and I doubt healing your face will change that.

Have you tried AHA? That may help with the red marks, at least. A chemical peel, maybe?

Good luck rolleyes.gif

Haha well thanks but it looks far worse in person. It's not so much the scars I care about, It's just the dang discoloration that's fustrating. But in all honesty I don't think it's in my head so much, I can tell people have a hard time looking me in the eye and it's just...well bleh lol.

I have tried AHA, but it seems like anything I put on my face only makes matters worse, even getting out of the shower the red spots tend to be way more visible so for now all I'm doing is washing my face twice a a day and putting moisturizer on twice a day as well.

Do you think maybe going on accutane will help? It's really the only thing I haven't done yet, and I've been going to the derm now for the last 10 years.

I know the feeling...when you can tell someone is looking at something on your face when you're talking to them as well, it's so frustrating. But one day, I just decided not to care :| I'm not sure that's particularly healthy either, but yeah, I don't care anymore.

They're bound to be visible after a shower because of the heat and blood travelling to the surface..have you tried natural remedies? I've heard that black seed oil/castor oil works wonders for evening out the skin tone and such.

Accutane might be a good idea, obviously once you're fully well-informed about it. For most people on accutane, their skin gets a whole lot worse before it gets better, but the results are pretty good :) Have you had a chemical peel? They're usually quite effective for red marks and uneven skin tone :)

I don't think I have, but see I do still get acne, it hasn't gone away. Sometimes it seems to just disappear, gone completely, and I will barely have any breakouts and I feel pretty good and can go out and do things and things seem to be getting better, then all a sudden it will just come back and I will be severe and cystic. The last one happened last summer and left that scar under my eye, and a bunch on my neck too, which was perfectly smooth before, now has a bunch of bumps and scars on it.

If you do still get acne, the suggestion of glycolic acid might even help you. Although, I'm not sure how to internally fix things to stop you from getting breakouts cause I don't know your particular situation.

I dont mean to be insensitive but I think this is in your head. Your skin looks totally normal and fine to me. I suggest you figure out whats really bothering you because your skin is not the problem.

lol yeah, perhaps, and no that's not insensitive, very honest. I'll have to take another picture sometime in better light to really highlight the problem, but yeah it's pretty obvious in the sunlight and outdoor lighting, but harder to tell in softer light, like the 2 picture because it's darker and from a distance.

That does actually make me feel a little better though 😛

Sorry but seriously this board has jumped the shark completely. Every other post is like this now from folks with perfectly good skin.

OP, I don't mean to come off harsh, but if you truly believed you are disfigured you would not have actually posted pictures. The only people who post pictures are the ones who have mild scarring at best.

I agree with the other poster that you have other issues to sort out and bad skin is not one of them. You have good skin. Are you here for validation?

This is the kind of stuff that makes people with truly bad scars despair even more because if that's what some people think are bad, then in comparison they must be truly disfigured.

I just can't...

Ok, well that's understandable, but I suppose I chose the wrong picture to really give an example. It really is worse then it looks in the last picture I took, but the lighting fudges it up. But like I said tomorrow when it's bright outside again I'll take a better picture to show you what I mean. For now, since you may be right, I'll get rid of the last picture, seems it does nothing to show the problem, and to show some respect

I've got to say, I don't think it's very fair to tell someone off for posting something that THEY perceive to be horrible. If they saw someone with worse scarring or acne than them, they probably will think it's not too bad.. These forums are here to help people regardless of their situation, not just for the people who have the worser issues visibly :)

Actually I think telling someone the truth, that their skin is great is the more compassionate thing to do. Instead of feeding into some distorted view of reality, I'm tell him he is fortunate and should be out enjoying life.

If you did a cursory view of my past responses, you'd see I have nothing but endless sympathy and advice stemming from my own personal experiences with treatments and doctors. I try my best to elevate the conversation here with thoughtful discussion, not political correctness.

Can't say I'm sorry for that.

That's fair enough :) I haven't been on here for long, so maybe it will start to get on my nerves when I'm not so naive...:P

If you believe you've already done everything under the sun except perhaps accutane and dating that hot girl you've only drooled over for the last 3 months, why dontcha consider trying one more regimen. What have you got to lose?

The regimen that I propose is rather simple and it's all organic: HONEY and POTATO JUICE.

The instruction, equally simple to follow, is as follows:

1. Apply raw HONEY on your face twice a day, morning and night, for at least 30 minutes.

  • Honey is anti-inflammatory and moisturizing. Use quality honey. I get mine from Costco.

2. Grind two or more potatoes in a blender and apply the COLD POTATO JUICE to your face, whenever and wherever appropriate, using a cotton ball or pad. Better yet, just soak up the damn juice using a paper towel and leave it on your face.

  • Potato juice is good for soothing and cooling off sun-burnt skin.
  • Potato juice helps reduce facial swelling.
  • Potato juice is a natural bleaching agent!!!
