Newbie-Questions Regarding Dermarolling / Saline Injections

Hi,

I have had quite bad acne for several years, until i got rid of it with accutane. Several years later, my skin tone has now actually gotten better, but I still fight with the scarring it left. I have many icepick-scars in the area of my nose, really deep ones on the temples (box scars, I guess?) and rolling ones on the cheek.

The scars that annoy me most are the ones on my cheek (rolling), because it just looks horrible in most lighting conditions.

Having had contact with several laser types during my actualy treatment of "active" acne, I would rather not try any again. I had severe burnings, it was extremely expensive and to no use at all. Same goes for most peelings which only served the purpose of irritating my skin for a few days.

Looking for things I might do at home, I stumbled across derma-rolling and saline injection. I would love to give it a try, but want to read up a little more on the techniques, so that I don't ruin my skin any more.

Could anyone of you tell me the basics of how to use a dermaroller and what kind of lotions/other products should be used in conjunction with it? Can I just buy one of the cheap rollers on amazon? Over here in Europe I could for example get one from "Infinitive Beauty" with 2.5mm needles - is 2.5mm too much? Does anyone know "Infinitive Beauty"? (Link: https://www.amazon.de/Infinitive-Beauty--Micro-Nadelroller-Professional/dp/B0085M0SJI/)

After a session, how long does it take for the skin to regenerate (so that it's not all that red anymore)?

Is there any sort of "tutorial"-thread that is a must read for any dermarolling newbie?

... and then I read about saline injections: Do I run risk of permanently damaging my skin if I try it at home? Any threads/pages outlining the process as a whole, giving good instructions on how to do it?

Thanks in advance!

I have dermarolled for almost a year now. My improvement is around 20% so far. I do it myself.

I read MANY threads and documents about skin needling (dermaroller, dermastamp, single needling, dermapen, etc) and my conclusion is that no one knows exactly what to do or what to expect! The reviews vary a lot.

The best information about dermaroller is the page below. I do not recommend her products. I bought a dermastamp from her and the quality is not good. I also bought Infadolan and it smells carrion a day after aplying it. Her instructions are good, though.

Thanks, that's helpful!

I concluded that 2.5mm is far too much, went for a random 1.5mm device for now. Guess I will just give it a try following the instructions in the PDF.

edit: one further question:

I guess, one of the things that keeps me wondering is, whether professionals would actually do it differently than the average guy at home. Considering the scientific foundation of many (sometimes extremely expensive) techniques seems very shallow, would it even make sense to basically throw money at a doc for doing this? I have become very skeptical over the years, everything acne-related has just been a HUGE money drain.

I used a 1.5mm dermaroller every 4-9 weeks and from now on I will try a 1.5mm dermastamp to see what happens. I think 2.5mm is too much also. On the forehead, where the fat layer is thinner, I think 1mm is enough . I have some bulging veins for being too aggressive on my forehead.

If I had the option I would look for a professional. Maybe they know some secret that is not available for us. On the other hand, I doubt they would be as thorough as I am.
