I want to get subcision since it costs less than $400 at a clinic compared to $2000 for laser. Its mostly on my temples and part of my cheeks. So would subcision be good for my scars? Im not too sure because they seem like a mixture of rolling and boxcar scars, but since i been treating them at home with dermaroller, tca peels, scars gels like kitoscell and others, Retin-a, and other things. They have helped a lot but not completely. Please help. Pics below. post-148135-0-13402700-1387633133.jpgpost-148135-0-03468100-1387632915.jpgpost-148135-0-19110300-1387632774.jpgpost-148135-0-36395800-1387632976.jpg

Subcision first, then laser might be the way to go mate. Some of them look quite deep, so you might not benefit much from laser first hand. I personally think that combined treatment is the way to go, and may I complement you on your beautiful skin tone? Cheers.

I had a CO2 laser done in 1999 and I was left with orange peel texture, large pores, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, new scars and different skin colors between the treated area and the rest of my face. The improvement was 10% for the scars. I also had a fractional laser done this year and it left very shallow holes on the right side of my nose. The improvement was zero after that first session. So I would try subcision, but I would ask the doctor to treat just 2 or 3 scars to see the results and then decide to continue or not. I tried subcision in 2004 and it caused lumps under the skin. I think the doctor was too agressive and didn't know the right technique. Fortunately he had treated just 3 scars and the lumps were dissolved after he injected something into the lumps.

Subcision works, though. I have seen many cases of dramatic improvements here.

What do you think about dermarolling? Is it worthwhile?

My experience with subcision wasn't normal. My doctor had treated only cellulitis previously and i think he didn't know exactly what he was doing. The treated scars remained dark purple for 6 weeks, very noticeable, so I knew something had gone wrong. From the reviews I have read the swelling/bruising should last around a week, so you wouldn't want to have it done on the weekend.

subcision gives good results but also very risky if you dont find a very good doctor who can perform it or else you can get indented line scars

I had bruising after subcision for about a week. It looked worse 3 or 4 days after the procedure than it did initially because the bruising spread and turned yellow. Swelling was 2 weeks or so. When it subsided I was left with raised scarring, as I over-responded to the treatment. Doctor blasted it with liquid nitrogen which caused swelling for another week and I massaged it down. That was much better, but I still had bumpy scar tissue. I am about 5 months out now and I still massage it a few times a week. It is not raised anymore but when I really massage I can still feel the new scar tissue under my skin, and it does look slightly bumpy in certain lights. So it did fill in the scar some, but made it worse in some ways too. Whether I feel I've had improvement depends on which light I am in. I think I had a very strong response, more than most people.

What parts of your face did you get subcision on? Were your scars like mine or worse? And how large the area? Im thinking of just getting it on 1 or two deep ones just to see how they respond and that way it wont be so noticeable.

Will they do subcision around the temples? I thought it was to be avoided since the skin is thinner there and therefore more risky.

I see what you mean. I also have some veins that go through that are noticeable since they are under some of the more shallow scars. Who knows, but ive seen videos where they do the temples without a problem.
