When Do Scars Become Permanent?

1 month, 3 months, 6 months? I am 26 now so my skin doesn't heal as good as it did when I was younger. I have scarring from the past and would do anything to prevent additional but my acne is so damn resistant. I monitor my skin really close now and a few bad pustules that I had in mid september (these are worse than under the skin nodules. they only last 4-5 days but they form huge whiteheads and are really painful) and it seems like there are indents where the red marks are now. They aren't super deep but wtf they are right by my mouth and that was the only area where I didn't have scarring. Does anyone have any experience with what looks to be indented scars within the first few months and have them fill in?

I believe scar remodeling lasts ~2 years (not entirely sure on that - just what I've read) but the bulk of improvement is in the first 6 months. I've had a few of my own scars fill in on their own within a few months personally. If you want them to heal as fast as possible on their own while they're fresh, keep the areas well moisturized and wear sunscreen daily.

I am praying that happens. I honestly didn't look at my skin this close when I was younger so I never really noticed if any potential scars had filled in. They aren't super deep like some of my others but uggh

This is a really interesting question... Honestly, I do think some of the shallower scars fill in a little. I remember accidentally rubbing off a couple tiny pustules on my face and them leaving a little dent, but now I realize I don't see the dent anymore.

Whenever I pop/rub a blemish off and it leaves a dent I always clean it well, dab some antibiotic on a bandaid (to prevent any bacteria from spreading) and sleep on it. Then I keep it moistourized.

I've also recently started dabbing a little bit of Retin a in the dent to see if it will encourage collage production but I don't know if it actually works.
