Hi all,
Was looking for some skin care help, never posted on a forum like this before so I apologize if something like this has been answered.
Basically I have redness from OLD pimples - I don't get many now. They don't seem like scars to me as I never picked up, my skin is still smooth but red where the pimples used to be. Some of the redness has faded over time while other areas are still quite red even after months. Is there a product/home remedy that can be recommended? A lot of the remedies I've read online are for when you have a pimple at that time and not after time has gone by. I've read things such as oil tree oil, honey, crushed tylenol, lemon juice, banana peel. What is the best for my case? Any help would be appreciated!
Great, thanks. I have read about Aloe Vera here and there. Is there a specific type you could recommend? I've come across few, but I'm sure how to pick which one to purchase. Are there certain Aloe Vera gels designed for acne treatment? I've seen certain types for sunscreen and moistures. Does it make a difference which one I get as long as it is 100% Aloe Vera? I actually picked up Vaseline Total Moisture Aloe Fresh and have been using that, not sure if I notice a different though. The back of the bottle says pure aloe + stratys multi-later moisture. Doesn't actually say 100% aloe vera anywhere...
Also - how do you feel about the aspirin mask treatment?

Don't get Aloe Vera products. You extract the gel yourself directly from the plant. Aloe Vera (the leaf itself) is inexpensive and should be at around $1.50 at your local supermarket or Wal-Mart. The leaf looks like this, for reference:
If you go on YouTube, just type "Aloe Vera gel extraction" and there's several videos showing on how to extract the gel. It's really easy, so you shouldn't have a problem.
I've never tried the aspirin mask, but from what I read it's only used for inflammatory problems when it comes to acne. If your acne is painful and swollen, I suggest you take an anti-inflammatory before going to bed, or start looking into foods that reduce swelling naturally.
You could always go to a dermatologist and ask him about Retin-A, though it makes your skin worse at first and then improves it. If you have sensitive skin (like I do), it will cause more damage than cure, in my honest opinion. Been there, done that.
Cheers.
What exactly is AHA? Is it a product like this?
