Heyy ladies and gents!

I have now got into a regime that is reducing spots and clearing my adult acne skin up.

However i am noticing in general a lot of discolouring/superficial unevenness, and roughness from the years of onslaught of spots and my bad habit of skin picking.

So I was thinking of giving myself (skin) till christmas to see how the land lies and then perhaps go for a chemical peel - probably in London UK.

can anyone advise me or recommend any clinic or doctor etc etc? What to expect, heeling time, results etc?

i'd greatly appreciate help on this matter as I would never normally even contemplate a treatment but would really like smooth even skin toned skin again now that everything for the most part is under control

thanks for reading, look forward to hearing from you all

As someone who has had both clinic and at home peels done, I can recommend them for the hyperpigmentation and skin roughness - although you will be able to get great results with a topical Retin-A cream! I visited a celebrity aesthetician when I lived in Sydney, and her very blunt recommendation went something like this:

- use topical Retin-A cream until tube is finished

- go for a chemical TCA peel at 25%

if results still aren't as I desired, then injection under the skin (!) with the filler, Juvederm. I got as far as using the Retin-A cream but was too scared to go back for the TCA Peel! I also used to work in a cosmetic clinic supporting the Doctors, and their recommendation for hyperpigmentation and skin rejuvenation was the fraxel laser.

I have never had a high strength TCA peel as I just can't live with the downtime (7 - 14 days and horrendous peeling, even on my Type III skin!), so I find that a lower % TCA peel (12.5% - 18%) 2 - 3 times a year with a regular Glycolic/Lactic/Salicylic Acid incorporated into my weekly regime works wonders.

I can't recommend a clinic in London, but from my experience of at home TCA peels you can expect to take a week out of your life (seriously, once the top layer of skin hardens, turns leathery and starts to peel, you won't want anyone to see you!), but the results are amazing (with proper post-peel care in place). Depending on your skin type and level of skin damage, you may need more than one peel to get the results you desire.

Good luck - and I hope you find a good clinic!
