Hi
I have been snooping around these forums for a while now and I'm not really sure I know what I'm doing. Let me share some facts.
I'm a 19 year old dude who has had acne for many years of his life, starting from high school. When I started developing facial hair (around junior year of high school), I started shaving and would occasionally shave over the pimples. Forward a year or two later, I now grow a lot more facial hair so I end up shaving over a lot more of my face which results in shaving over most of my pimples. I once read somewhere that shaving over pimples was good because it "cleared dead skin." I don't know if that's true but it seems like it was a bad idea to start with because it's gotten my skin worse. I don't know if I have scars per se - my skin texture still looks relatively smooth but the pimples I've been shaving over are now red marks within the skin. If I don't shave for a few days, some of them grow back out.
Ive used a plethora of face cleaning products throughout these past few years and nothing has really helped to get rid of the parts of my skin that are red from shaving over pimples. Very recently, I've started using the Acne Regimen and I have no idea if that's what I need or not but I'm giving it a shot. I would just like to really get rid of the redness because the actual pimples come and go but the redness/brownness stays even when my face would be clear otherwise.
Should I stop shaving over pimples? This summer I had an internship and needed to shave every day (office job). Is shaving making the acne worse? I usually do take a shower and make my face really soft before shaving and don't use dull blades.
I've attached some pictures of my face from different angles. A final point to include is that my acne wasn't this bad just a few months ago. I'm not sure what's going on but I started getting a lot of pimples all over my face a few months ago (that I basically shaved over).
If I were you I would go to the doctors and get a script for acne, take the tablets and use skin care products to fight acne, also don't shave everyday until its under control even if your jobs says so just talk to whoevers looking after you and tell them your having trouble with acne at the moment ( if you can i remember when I was 19 I prob couldn't say that)
Also buy an electric shaver what oopli said it's a lot better than blades and won't irritate your skin do this and you will be fine and do it fast cause they might turn into scars and trust me you don't want that.
right, i've never really been able to explain it. you are right, i don't have crator scars but do these still count as scars? the redness has been there for ages and even though my skins texture is smooth, the redness makes my acne seem much worse
what is the solution to reducing the redness? will the acne regimen help?
thanks!

Try a goggle search as well ' redness from acne scars'
Keep your face out of the sun and wear a sunblock or the scars will get darker <----- just red that good tip
