I wanted to start this thread so people can share their health/ holistic tips on how to better heal scars....

Of course, proper mesotherapy is necessary along with key topicals, but what we eat/ drink and other health boosting/ holistic techniques also play a major role in healing scars more effectively...

In my case, I have seen that supergreen powder helps skin heal faster (i.e. I use Synergy Natural Supergreen Powder). It contains chlorella/ spirulina/ barley grass/ wheat grass. I add a scoop of this to my fresh veg/ fruit every day. I also make a face mask with the supergreen powder along with fresh lemon juice and manuka honey (factor 10+) at least once or twice a week.

I now wanted to share something I stumbled across which also might be helpful. It's called the "model-approved smoothie" for great skin & health (source http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/health/chlorella-smoothies-the-secret-green-smoothie-that-stars-and-supermodels-swear-by-s67655.html ). I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would really help nourish the body & skin back to health:

__________________________________________

Ingredients:

-300ml water

-80g cucumber

-80g spinach

-40g rocket

-40g celery

-20g kale

-5-15 tablets of Sun Chlorella (Start with 5 and build up to 15)

-20-40g avocado

-Pinch of salt

-1/2 clove garlic

-2 tsp lemon juice

-4 ice cubes

1. Place water in blender as first ingredient

2. Chop all Ingredients and blend as you add each ingredient

3. When all ingredients have been added blend again until smooth.

4. Divide smoothie into two servings (each serving is about 300mls)

5. Consume half before breakfast and keep the second serving refrigerated to enjoy another healthy boost before lunch.

Tip: Drinking the Chlorella smoothie is best done in the morning or after a work-out for an extra boost. Typically a Chlorella smoothie will be no more than 100 calories.

Thank you for this. I also think that vitamin supplements like zinc and vit C can help. Taking these have certainly prevented scarring the times I had broken out badly over the last few years.

Some general tips:

Avogen/ avocado

Panos has posted some very interesting links and information about the merits of avogen/ avocado (or 302 line of products). He noted that a face mask using 1/2 an avocado and 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil (see http://www.food.com/recipe/avocado-mask-for-all-skin-types-41579 ) heals scarring & damaged skin.

I think this sounds very promising and Panos attests to avocados healing power when applied topically.

I will try this remedy...

DEVA Nutrition vitamins

I have started to take a new line of vitamins by DEVA Nutrition (see http://www.devanutrition.com/ ). They are designed for vegetarians & vegan, but I think they are great for everyone because they are high potency, high quality & economical.

I think women should consider the prenatal line http://www.devanutrition.com/vegan_prenatal_multivitamin.html (perhaps, even if they are post-child bearing age - but please check with your doctor for advice just in case you have a medical issue that would preclude you from taking these vitamins) and men should consider the DEVA daily supplement line http://www.devanutrition.com/multivitamin.html (but please check with your doctor if you are taking any other medication like accutane to ensure there are no contraindications).

NOTE: These vitamins don't contain a high dose of calcium because it can't fit in the supplement...so you either need to eat high calcium foods daily like kale, almonds, broccoli, dried figs, unhulled tahini etc & get plenty of daily sunlight for vitamin D (just don't burn) and/ or take supplements like these http://www.devanutrition.com/bone_supplements.html

Essential Fatty Acids

DEVA nutrition also stock a great line of Essential Fatty Acids, see http://www.devanutrition.com/essential_fatty_acids.html .

In particular, their DHA/ EPA high potency caps are great for healthy skin cells & of course, brain health http://www.devanutrition.com/vegan_dha-epa_high_potency.html .

Please feel free to share your own supplement tips/ favorite brands smile.png

HI Panos smile.png

Re Fasting remedies

Your remedy looks really interesting too (thanks for sharing it Panos!)...I noticed it contains onion...onions are great for the skin/ scarring & for boosting health...raw onion consumption also naturally induces higher glutathione levels - the super antioxidant necessary for healthy cells/ skin cells. I think I will try this too Panos. Thanks !

Btw, as you know, I've been attempting to do a mini-fast over the last few days by skipping breakfast & lunch & only eating dinner (while drinking a variation of the Master Cleanse Detox drink during the day i.e. fresh lemon juice/ lemon wedge/ fresh lemon grass/ fresh ginger/ raw leatherwood honey/ cayenne pepper/ filtered hot water)...well, I did something else yesterday, all I ate was my fasting cabbage soup (cabbage/ peas/ red onions/ broccoli/ sweet potato/ fresh tomato/ turmeric/ dried thyme/ cayenne pepper/ cajun spice/ salt/ pepper - also might add a teaspoon of hummus in future, but I didn't yesterday). I also had my supergreen powder with juice & I did drink a few cups of my organic vegan hot chocolate with hot water (I couldn't resist this!). I did eat a few mandarins too. I must admit I went to sleep last night positively starving and had to force myself not to go & make myself a big dinner at midnight lol ! But this morning, I feel good, not hungry at all & my skin looks better too. However, I did use the retin a on my skin last night too, so maybe that is helping...but I'm starting to see "clarity" in some parts of my skin texture and tone i.e. some pores have disappeared or have shrunk, my skin texture is looking more glass like & the redness is subsiding in certain chronic redness areas...

Maybe fasting is the secret to good skin after all, maybe that's how models achieve their great skin??

I'm starting to believe it might be possible to heal scars/ skin damage/ large pores through fasting...I'd like to try it for longer (safely of course), if I can just manage to discipline my appetite! However, these results are motivating me....thanks for sharing your very helpful tips/ insights Panos smile.png

Herbs that help remove scars

(**IMPORTANT Note: herbs are very potent so please do extensive research before using to ensure there are no contraindications and you get the dose right...otherwise, see a reputable naturopath or herbalist for more info.)

I will add to this list as I source more info (but please feel free to add to it):

  • "You might use herbal remedies containing aloe vera, coconut oil, gotu kola, jojoba oil, tamanu oil or lavender oil to get rid of scar tissue, according to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Gotu kola is a medicinal herb taken orally, applied topically and/or injected into the scar tissue. You might take 60 milligrams (mg) of standardized gotu kola extract once or twice per day and apply a topical ointment containing 1-percent the herb at the same time to get rid of scar tissue, says the University of Maryland Medical Center. Pine bark extract is also taken orally to treat scars and improve skin health, at a dose of 200 mg per day. All the other herbal remedies are meant for topical applications to treat scars. Talk with your doctor before taking or applying any herbs to remove scar tissue...." Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/173033-herbs-to-remove-scar-tissue/#ixzz2Yj7r3noh

  • Homeopathic remedies for scars http://www.herbs2000.com/disorders/scarring.htm & http://www.taoofherbs.com/products/3396/ForcesofNature/ScarControl.htm
  • Use thyme as a natural cure for acne - http://www.naturalnews.com/035869_acne_natural_cures_thyme.html "A thyme-based tincture has proven to be a more effective topical solution without side effects than benzoyl peroxide creams, according to recent research at Leeds Metropolitan University in Leeds, UK. The thyme tinctures, not essential oils, proved highly effective at soothing the skin and killing the Propionibacterium acne.

In addition to the healing and antiseptic attributes of the herb thyme, the alcohol base used for the tincture adds more antiseptic qualities. The tincture can be applied with a cotton ball, gauze, or sprayed on from a mist spray bottle.

You can make your own long lasting thyme tincture or any other herbal tincture inexpensively ( http://www.naturalnews.com/032298_herbs_tinctures.html )."

Vitamins A and C help restore collagen to promote scar healing. Fatty acids contain antioxidant properties that can help reduce inflammation and keep the skin flexible. We can eat a variety of foods that contain large amounts of naturally-occurring Vitamin E (otherwise known as Alpha Tocopherol) that helps heal all types of scars. This health-promoting antioxidant can be found in whole grains, such as oats, barley, whole wheat, brown rice and quinoa. There also are a variety of whole grain boxed cereals.Beta carotene, a component of Vitamin A, is another antioxidant known for helping with healing scars. It contains strong anti-inflammatory properties. Hope it helps.

My usual scar prevention method these days is keeping the healing pimple/scab/wound moisturized with lots of bepanthen cream or using a hydrocolloid bandaid for a few of days (bandaid if I can stay in and there's no scab). And taking zinc and vitamin C supplements as well, and eating plenty of eggs and liver for most vitamins. I also take collagen supplements sometimes and have used red LEDs before, but I can't tell if they've had an effect. I think the bepanthen cream has really helped me prevent/reduce scarring and I would really recommend using it. I don't know if it's just the moisturizing effect or something else, but it seems to improve healing.

Thanks Yanagupta, this is great natural health info smile.png Yes, essential fatty acids are highly beneficial...and vitamin e taken internally is helpful too...but avoid placing vitamin e directly on scars as it prevents healing...but it's great under the eyes to prevent wrinkles!

Thanks for posting Austra. Have you considered using 100% pure organic lavender oil directly on your blemish? This is very effective at quickly drying/ healing pimples. Also, a little tea tree oil with your moisturizer/ serum or alone applied all over the face is good at preventing breakouts. However, if you're eating junk food, you'll still get breakouts. (NB I've read in this forum that one poster had great success using a quality non-dairy probiotic & fibre supplement - you might like to try it..). Cheers smile.png

There are no vitamins in pills. Please stay away frm them. They are industrial sludge

and the stomach in order to break them produce more stomach acids--->acidic blood.

Only source of vitamins are the SUN and maybe if you eat a fruit within some minutes of cutting it from the tree

you may have luck to convert the fruit vitamins to human ones.

After the vitamins have left to the air,you can only have minerals.

Stay away from these industrial sludges.

Panos, not all vitamin brands are bad. But yes, there certainly are bad ones so do research thoroughly.

However, as far as I know the Deva Nutrition brand is excellent. And it is vital to take a quality brand of mutlivitamins and superfoods like chlorella/ spirulina/ barley grass/ chia seeds etc because the world is full of smog, electromagnetic pollution, radiation, GMO, pesticides, heavy metals, plastics, vaccines and intensive/ industrial monocultural farming practices which means our soils/ foods are deleted of nutrients. OUR BODIES ARE LITERALLY STARVING FOR NUTRIENTS, THAT'S WHY THERE IS AN EXPLOSION IN OBESITY RATES (PEOPLE ARE STARVING FOR NUTRIENTS AS THEIR FOOD INTAKE QUALITY IS TERRIBLE & THEIR EXCESS FAT IS THEIR BODY'S ATTEMPT AT PROTECTING THEIR VITAL ORGANS FROM THE TOXIC FOODS/ DRINKS THEY EAT LIKE FAST FOODS & SODAS ), CANCER, AUSTISM, HEART DISEASE ETC IN THE WEST.

People need organic produce, and until people start to live purely & in a toxic free world/ environment, THEY NEED VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTATION TO COMABT THE PRESENT ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTIONS AND DEPLETED NUTRIENT LEVELS IN SOILS/ FOODS.

I thought the following article is useful for people that need a "wake-up" concerning the level of toxins in our environment and products marketed as 'healthy' or 'beneficial'. For example, most vitamins that are not organic & made by big pharma companies are basically toxic chemicals and harmful. Thus, you need to source quality organic vitamins or wholefood nutrition (i.e. https://drbenkim.com/sunshop/ ). Also, most soy products are GMO. You should, therefore, avoid all soy products if they are not organic and non-GMO. In fact, you should replace your soy with fermented soy products like tempeh or if you like the pungent 'natto', use that instead (or another organic protein vegan source like a combination of quinoa, nuts, seeds, legumes, pulses & brown rice etc). Lastly, if you don't know already, sunlight or vitamin d (which is really a hormone), is vitally important to your health and to maintaining good skin. Sunscreens are, in fact, toxins. Please research on ways to build your immunity to sunlight naturally and use hats, clothing and shade to shield you from the sun instead. So, you really do need a little daily direct sunlight (just don't burn - but rather go a little pink - and don't wash for a few days after sun exposure because it takes a few days for the vitamin d "hormone" to absorb into your body through your skin). It might also be necessary to have a vitamin d test to ensure your levels are beneficial. And if you find you're deficient in vitamin d, you will need to supplement with vitamin d.

Of course, don't take my word for it, do some research on how to live a healthy life that improves your health & complexion long-term.

Source: http://www.naturalnews.com/042577_cancer_treatment_hydrogen_peroxide_alternative_medicine.html

"Cancer is dangerous. Don't flirt with disaster. Don't eat it and don't go near it. Don't drink it. Don't put it on your skin. Yes, this is a warning not to put cancer on or inside your body. Cancer is in GMO pesticide DNA seed designs and the treatments used on vegetables and fruit. Cancer is in sun block lotions full of toxins that hold in your sweat and block out the vitamin D you would normally get from the sun. Cancer is in cosmetics, makeup, soaps, toothpaste and shampoos. Cancer may be lurking in your refrigerator, your pantry and in your medicine cabinet, but it has an archenemy. Cancer has a rival that destroys it like an M-60 leveling a field of enemy soldiers. It's called "hydrogen peroxide," and the "lame-stream," mainstream media will tell you how "dangerous" it is at 35%, but they won't tell you that you can drip a couple drops in a glass of water each day and end cancer. Yes, it's true.

Cancer thrives in an acid-heavy system, where the blood and the organs are flooded with processed salt, sugar, animal fat and artificial food. The heart and brain struggle to filter out the toxins found in most conventional forms of food, like antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, bleach, ammonia, fluoride, heavy metals and much more. This is why the doctors and oncologists tell chemo patients not to eat alkalizing foods like kale, because it will "interfere with the chemotherapy." God forbid you should try to alkalize all that acid that's killing your GOOD cells. Most cancer patients die as a result of the chemotherapy and radiation damage to their non-cancerous cells. In other words, your good cells that are trying to help your body beat cancer are deprived of oxygen also, leading to new cancers and often death within 5 years. "The most overlooked solution to all manner of illness and disease is perhaps the simplest. All pathogens, viruses, and parasites are anaerobic. They thrive in the absence of oxygen, but cannot survive with an abundance of oxygen. Even cancer cells cannot exist in oxygen. They depend on fermenting glucose to survive and multiply."

What should you do, whether you have cancer or not? Alkalize your body, that's what. Now keep in mind, hydrogen peroxide does not rebuild the immune system or repair the cells damaged by toxic chemo; however, there's no better time to welcome that "change of season" for the regeneration of new cells, skin, hair and organ cells than right now. This is preprogrammed in your DNA. Men and women have the same schedule:

120 Days - NEW Red Blood Cells

90 Days - NEW Skeleton

60 Days - NEW Brain Cells, Tissue

49 Days - NEW Bladder

45 Days - NEW Liver, NEW DNA Cell Material

30 Days - NEW Hair, NEW Skin

5 Days - NEW Stomach Lining

Getting enough hydrogen peroxide inside the cancer cells is key

It has been clinically demonstrated that the spread or metastatis of cancer is "inversely proportional to the amount of oxygen around the cancer cells." That means that the more oxygen, the slower the cancer spreads. Conversely, the less oxygen, the faster the cancer spreads. If cancer cells get enough oxygen, they will die! Hydrogen peroxide kills cancer cells, because cancer cells do not have the mechanism to break down the hydrogen peroxide and stop it from doing its work.

The key to curing cancer with hydrogen peroxide is getting ENOUGH hydrogen peroxide INSIDE the cancer cells. There is a scientific description of this: Proteolytic enzymes, also called pancreatic enzymes, literally cut apart the thick protein coating that covers cancer cells, so the immune system can recognize the cells as cancerous. Well, you don't have to be a scientist to understand that! By cutting apart the protein coating, the hydrogen peroxide then gets inside the cancer cells. You won't hear about that on any CNN "cancer special" or on "Dr. Oz."

Science has known this for 50 years

Nobel prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg demonstrated OVER 50 YEARS AGO the basic difference between normal cells and cancer cells. Both derive energy from glucose, but the normal cell requires oxygen to combine with the glucose, while cancer cells break down glucose without oxygen, yielding only about 1/15 of the energy per glucose molecule that a normal cell produces. This is why cancer cells have such a huge appetite for sugar and why people who are obese get cancer more often. It's called the "biochemical cascade." ( http://www.naturalnews.com )

Hydrogen peroxide and several other oxygen therapies are proven to be safe and effective. Pay attention to what you buy though, because 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide is the only grade recommended for internal use. Beware of the 3% "Pharmaceutical Grade." This is the grade sold at your local drugstore or supermarket. This product is not recommended for internal use, because it contains an assortment of stabilizers which shouldn't be ingested. Home use advice: Some individuals add a cup of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide to a bathtub of warm water and soak for 20 to 30 minutes. The hydrogen peroxide is absorbed through the skin, which is your largest organ. Others drink a glass of water with several drops of food or reagent grade hydrogen peroxide. Also look into digestive enzymes. Researchers have noted for years a correspondence between low levels of enzymes and cancer; in fact, enzyme therapy has been used with good results against cancers in Europe and by some doctors in the United States.

Hey aquasea,

Thanks for adding all this useful information. I'm still reading through it. High frequency facials are basically similar to galvanic facials...they use a light electrical current/ stick to stimulate blood flow and collagen. It mostly helps with inflammation, but I think frequent use might also improve skin texture.
