Hi everyone just wanted to share my journey with everyone, i have been to see a few derms and decided on Dr Tapan Patel of Viva Clinic in Golders Green London.

we discussed the best options for me he said i have a mixture of a few rolling scars and ice pick scars.

he suggested subcision first to tackle the rolling scars on my temples which were my biggest worry because there are around 7 or 8 scars on each temple so for that many scars in such a small area makes it look horrible.he said subcision would release the tethering under the scar and blood would pool underneath and then promote collagen growth he said using lasers with out subcision first wouldnt make any difference at all because the scar will still be tethered down, he looked at my face in depth which was good. during the subcision he said for the deeper ice pick scars he would use TCA Cross to try and lift them up. i have around 20 ice pick scars really small they look like large pores but a bit deeper. after the subcision and tca cross he said 3 weeks later he would recommend erbium yag laser or co2 laser 3 sessions every 3 to 4 weeks apart, that was to resurface the skin even out the skin tone promote collagen and even out the remaining scars left.

so last tuesdsy i was booked in for the subcision and tca cross was abit nervous but dr patel was great explained everything made sure i was comfortable and we began he inserted the anesthetic into the temples and upper cheeks where he was going to do the subcision, this stung a little not bad at all glad that bit was over because thats the painfull bit and i realy didnt feel anything. he then inserted the needle and began the subcision i could feel the scars cutting non stop he said i had alot of strong tethered scarring and he was very pleased we decided to do this first as it would make a big difference, i could feel and see him putting alot of force into cutting the scars so i new he wasnt lying it took him a good 30 minutes just for the temples and upper cheeks at the end the cutting noise stopped so he had got through the scars eventually he checked from every angle he could to make sure he didnt miss any he moved the light around to get better views overall i was happy with him.

then he moved onto the tca cross he said he would use a sharp tooth pick looking thingsoak it in tca and insert it into the deeper ice pick scars he said i may feel a slight stinging on a few but not all because the anesthetic was will working.he did around 20 scars again checking different angles.

all together i was in there around 45 minutes to an a hour tops. i had a bit of swelling on the temples and upper cheeks not too much no pain at all just abit tender to touch. its now day two after and there is still some swelling its going down at the moment i am very pleased because the scars have improved around 75% but i know thats still swelling to come down so im hoping they improvements stay the same for the subcision. the tca cross is hard to tell yet as they scabs are starting to form so cant see if they have raised at all yet but fingers crossed, i am due to see dr patel next i think i will ask him if he thinks i should do the subcision on the lower cheeks and maybe one more subcision on the temples as i can see 3 or 4 scars on the temples still.

i have attached a few pictures two days after the subcision and tca cross stupid me didnt take any before pics but i will take weekly ones now until my end treatment which should be around end of august.

hoping this is the end to all my scars and can move on !!!

if anyone has any questions please ask me and il try my best to answer

did he not take any before pictures on his camera for you??? Should of done to monitor progress.

I think the subcision is a good choice, see how you get on before looking at a laser treatment, i have not had one but a few on here have from Dr Patel so may be worth searching for their results before making a decision

hey man,

wish you luck in your journey, we have similar scars so i will follow your post and hope to see great result.

you should do resarch on suction becase many people here said that suction improved their result from subcision.

just a quick update, its now 6 days post subcision tca cross, still have a few scabs on the tca cross bits he did, didnt really get any swelling or much bruising only slight, i would say at the minute on the subcision parts there is 50% improvement the scars have come back but not as deep, i look every day in the worst light possible and can 100% say they have got better, the dr said subcision wouldnt completely cure the scars but its more of him preparing the scars for laser treatment, the more he can lift the scars the better results i would have with lasers which makes sense. some of the scabs have fallen off the ice picks and the smaller ones are improved by 75% they look more like enlarged pores now, the bigger ice pick scars doesnt seem to have improved much really. i have 3 on the middle of my cheek and they still look the same, hoping they will start to fill in soon, got an apointment in 2 weeks to discuss the next step maybe another round of subcision or he may say im ready for co2 laser fingers crossed
