Two years ago I made the mistake of getting a Profractional laser treatment to improve my scars. The treatment worked a little but also left me with hypopigmentation. On the right side of my face, I had a white raised line. On the left side of my face, I had an irregular white patch. I went to a doctor for a prescription of Tazorac cream 0.5 because I heard it was the equivalent of like taking Accutane (this stuff is very strong).
I starting putting the cream on the white patches with a toothpick (this technique really lets you target only the areas that you want) and left it on all day. The white areas starting flaking off and soon the white marks started to flatten out. Now I am noticing that the color is starting to return.
I am also using it for my scars. Using the toothpick method lets you put a little right inside the indent so only that area is treated. I am also leaving this on all day and I am also noticing improvement in this too. Its like needling without the downtime. The area inside the scar starts to slough off thus creating new collagen.
My doctor said I could use this cream every night put it on my entire face for three minutes and then rinse off but this stuff is so harsh that I can only do that once a week. My skin is starting to look very nice.
I hope this method might work for someone else too.
Hi, my scarring is shallow and I have been doing this for a month. The white patches is what was really bothering me and now they are almost unnoticeable. As for the scarring, I do see improvement and will continue doing this everyday since it doesn't cost that much and it does penetrate into the skin. I will never get a laser treatment again. In my opinion they only cause my problems and are a waste of money.
I am hoping that profractional laser can help to even out my skin tone and correct years of damage from the sun and harsh cystic acne. I have mild hyper pigmentation but I also have white spots all over my face which I have been told is not fixable. After sending my photos to several dermatologists and surgeons I am getting some hopeful answers. Many suggest aggressive laser treatments and basically a life without future sun exposure. I have searched just about every site on the internet for anyone who has skin close to mine and have found nothing remotely close. Desperate for advice and hoping to keep it positive.
