Hi guy,

Hope you are doing well.

After 8-9 years I'm finally more or less acne clear and today I had an appointment with my derm to plan my route. He has been treating my acne(and not only) for the past one year and I'm pleased with him. He seems to be quite well-informed for almost all topic I've ever discussed with him and i've never got this "profit-oriented treatment" feeling, which I highly value. Basically I live in a country where the most famous derms still don`t offer subscision as a treatment, but mine does.

So I'm starting with the subscision probably in a month from now, since I have some rolling scars to address. I'll probably have 2-3 of them til аutumn, when comes the season of the lasers.

The plan so far is to also get a fractional laser treatment around the end of October. I know It`s far in the future, but I'm starting my research now, so that I get the better dicision later.

So while talking with my derm, we mention that the procedure is quite painful. When I asked him about local anesthesia, he mentioned that it`s not recommended to use numbing or whatever creams, because they change the water structure in the skin. And because the fractional laser(CO2 I believe) deals with the water, the effect of the procedure won`t be as good if I my face is numb. Basically this makes sense to me, but on the other hand in almost all threads related to laser treatment I see the numbing as obligatory pre-treatment part. So what do you guys think/know about it?

It`s not that I have such severe fear from the pain, I'm just curious and may be still a bit hesitant about the competence of my derm(this is the way I'm, always questioning). What I'm most concerned about are the post procedure risks, but if I have a good physician to do the optimal, they are all matter of individual reaction, which either happen or not.

So thanks for you attention and I wish you a great day smile.png

Sounds strange to me. When I had non-ablative laser treatments, they've always just used a numbing cream for about 45 minutes then wiped it completely off. When I've had my mixto treatments (co2 ablative), I've had the numbing cream as well as a pain killer I would be told to take 45 minutes prior to treatment.

I had a Pearl Fractional laser treatment while back and my doctor applied a numbing cream about 45 minutes before the treatment.Even with the lnumbing cream, the procedure was uncomfortable especially along the jaw line.I think it would be well worth it to have some type of numbing cream unless you have a really high tolerance for pain.
